•One year after Aaliyah arrived at the Compound•
The sunlight streamed through the sheer silk curtains. The large window gave the room enough light, so there was no need for artificial lights. It was simple, the walls and carpets were a dull beige color and the only furniture was a small bed, barely big enough for Conner, and a pale three drawer wooden dresser. Other than that and a small gray trash can the room was empty. As the morning sunlight grew stronger, Conner's thin lengthy body couldn't resist the urge to wake. He woke up slowly, stretching and yawning, like a cat, as he pushed his hands over his head. BAM! His out-turned palms collided with the wall. That was his first signal something was wrong. His bed at home was 5 feet away from the wall to prevent what had just happened. Then why did that just happen? We pushed himself upright and looked around as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. The events of the previous night flooded his conscientious. He was at their home. The Compound. why aren't I dead yet? They wouldn't go through the trouble of keeping me if they were gonna kill me. Would they? His stomach growled, and he remembered that he hadn't eaten since lunch the previous day.
"ON YOUR FEET!" A feminine voice yelled as the metal door was thrown open with a loud bang. He growled to himself but, in an act of rebellion, didn't stand up. In return Cassie, he recognized her from the night before, motioned to her companions and two of them pulled him by the arms up onto his feet between them.
"Let's go," Cassie growled. As they dragged him out into the corridor he examined them, none of them, except Cassie, had been at the ceremony last because he only recognized Cassie. They quite literally tossed him into a white tile room and as he hit the ground face first, his nose exploded like a volcano of pain. He pulled his head up as threw his hands over his nose. When he removed them they were covered in dark metallic blood. He spat out a glob of blood into the conveniently placed drain next to his head. Looking around from his position on the floor, all Conner noticed was that the room was a box of white tile, even the ceiling. The only other thing was a drain in the middle of the floor, and as he observed more he noticed the entire room sloped down to the drain as if it were made for a shower or something. The big metal door was shut and he heard a few locks click shut.
"Strip" Cassie ordered. He looked around at all the girls in the room and spit more blood into the drain.
"Are you serious?" He asked angrily. She nodded. He wiped the fresh blood off his face and began to reluctantly take off his clothes despite the biting cold. He peeled every layer of his body off as if they were dripping wet. As soon as he was naked, his clothes in a pile around him, she walked around him. Inspecting him. Like livestock. She was inspecting him like a person inspects an animal or item that they wanted to buy. She occasionally ordered him to move a little bit, raise an arm here, circle it back. Left foot forward. Almost like a game of hokey pokey except for the fact that he was completely butt naked and it was very invasive. When she seem satisfied she ordered him to put his clothes back on and left the room. She seemed to have no further use for him.
"What will happen next?" He asked the 3 girls left in the room. They ignored him. He rolled his eyes. His nose had stopped throbbing and the bleeding had slowed down. It seemed to be broken though which meant that he would need to set it back in place soon. The only good thing was that he was pretty sure that they wouldn't kill him, if they were going to they would've already done it and there be no point for feeding him and clothing him for the few days that he had been there. That's when he noticed he wasn't sure how many days have been there. His family must be worried about him right? And then he remembered. He didn't have any family and the only person he ever loved hated him now. So did everyone else. He was alone in the world with no one to care for him. And no one to miss him. He had to escape, right? That meant that either he would die in here unless they were planning on releasing him, Which didn't seem likely at that point, so the only other option was escaping. He had to get out. Escaping would be the fastest and easiest way to do that, only he had no idea where he was; he could be in the middle of the desert for all he knew. So what then? His train of thought was broken by the arrival of Eden.
