Jinxx tells us to all stand together in a circle and hold hands

Jinxx tells us to all stand together in a circle and hold hands. Andy and The Mystic close their eyes and in sync they chant words unfamiliar to me. I can tell it's the same language Andy was murmuring to summon Jinxx. Now that I am up close to him I notice a long silver scar running along his pale face.

In all the books I had read they would always say something along the lines of they would have been pretty. If it weren't for the scar obscuring their face. Now seeing someone with a scar I couldn't help but think the opposite. The scar might have even made him even more beautiful. I look away, hoping he didn't notice me staring.

I'm hypnotized by the movement of Andy's lips. There's something so simple but amazing about it. The enchantment breaks as I see the cyclone of black circling the three of us. It's just like the black matter that knocked me off my feet only moments ago. Andy notices me tense up and squeezes my hand.

I shut my eyes tight.

And open them to a barren desert.

"Why did you bring me here?"

Jinxx ignores my question. "We have to get to camp before the Shadows know we're here." Jinxx takes the lead and Andy stays behind with me.

Though Andy walks by me, he doesn't speak. The blank expression he wears bugs me. I deserve an explanation. About what just happened. About everything. Even when I'm staring him straight in the face, he remains blank.

"Andy."

His eyes snap back to me.

"Is this all some sick joke? If so, then okay, whatever, I get it. You thought it'd be funny if a super cool bad boy like you asks out a nerdy loser like me. We can all laugh and go home now. Prank's over."

He chuckles lowly which makes me even more pissed off. "You really think I'm a bad boy, Blue? What gave you that impression?"

"Well am I supposed to think about you?" I fumed, throwing my hands up into the air. "I've barely know you since yesterday!"

"Hasn't anyone ever told you not to judge a book by its cover?" He doesn't look the slightest bit angry, unlike me who is far more emotional. I'm surprised I haven't had a panic attack yet. He's got the whole bad boy look pinned down even if he isn't trying. Leather jacket, black skinny jeans, torn tank top, combat boots, tattoos, long black hair. He is right, though.

Could this whole evening have been why Gerard had told me to stay away from him? But what was going on with Gee? Eyes glowing red don't usually indicate human like qualities.

Holy shit. Is Gerard possibly not human? I don't have the slightest notion about anything after what's happened so far. Maybe I'm just delusional.

"When we get to camp we'd better get you into something a bit more appropriate for this environment," the Mystic calls from up ahead. "We're almost there."
