The sound of leaves crunching beneath my feet never stopped as I continued through the forest. It was long past sundown however I want to get to Scaleswind as fast as possible, whether I look terrible I don't really care. The forest was dark, no moonlight managed to peek through the thick tree tops, I just kept walking a little slower than when there was daylight. It would be lie to say I wasn't tired, in all honesty I was exhausted but not enough to make me stop.
After a few more minutes of walking through the forest, I looked to see what was further ahead. Finally taking my gaze of the roots and leaves. In the distance, maybe about ten minutes away, I saw light. Truth be told, I had no idea where I am so that light could be literally anything. But if I went in the right direction, it probably will be Scaleswind. Or knowing my luck a camp of thieves that will end up kicking my butt and taking all my stuff. Not.
After I walked towards the light, it indeed turned out to be Scaleswind. For once in my life something turned out alright. As I approached the gate, I noticed it has been closed. After a few shouts to get attention of whoever was on post, one of the guards stepped out to see me. Of course I had to go through new procedures that were put in place when the city was attacked by the shadow souls, or that's what they told me. Once they were certain I wasn't going to destroy the village they allowed me to enter but since they still didn't exactly trust me, not that I look very trustworthy with the hood and all, the guard decided to take me to the head guard wo just happened to be talking to the lord. Talk about great timing.
After about five minutes of standing in front of the Lord's house, waiting for the guard to come back, he finally did along with yet another guard whom I assumed to be the head and Nicole herself meaning that she is indeed the Lord now. Nicole looked at me curiously, obviously seeing something familiar about the way I was standing. As I released the breath I didn't realise I was holding, I pushed myself off the wall and took my Hood off. Recognition filled The Lord's face and she smiled as she dismissed her guards saying that I was welcome to stay, what can I say, we are pretty good friends or at least we were.
" (y/n)? I can't believe it's actually you! How'd you get here?" Nicole smiled as she half dragged me inside of her house. Alright now I know that the friendship hasn't died just yet.
"Surprisingly, I walked here... But does that really matter? I need to tell you that O'Khasis was taken over" I said as both of us sat down near the fire place. Her eyes went wide from shock as to what I said.
"The fact that you actually walked here is terrifying but that O'Khasis, the power house of this region, has been taken over is just unbelievable!" It was hard to tell weather Nicole was scared or angry, probably a mix of both if I had to guess but she had clear disbelief and that bugged me.
"Look, I know it sounds crazy. It's just as unbelievable to you as it was for me to wake up to having eighteen years pass by while I was out cold because of some stupid spell but it's the truth. If I'm not mistaken, someone from lady Aphmau's group is more than likely to come and bring the same news." I sighed and sunk further into the couch as I covered my eyes. It did sound like a complete lie so I know where she came from.
"Wait, you know Aphmau? When did you meet her? " When I looked up Nicole was staring right at me and the tone she used said she knew her too.
"Yes, I met her group while getting out of the city. We went through the cursed forest together and then I went off. " I explained quickly getting ready for another flood of questions and it indeed came sooner than I could even say 'hello'. I barely finished speaking and I was already bombarded with endless questions...It was about four in the morning when Nicole decided that we should get some rest before we continue the conversation and all of our catching up we have to do. So far I only managed to tell her exactly what happened in O'Khasis and how I met the group but I'm pretty sure I missed out some minor details. That mostly being the relation between me and a certain Shadow Knight that also happened to be Aphmau's guard.
