After I dropped her off at home she quickly walked inside.  I took one more look at the book which was sitting on the on the passengers seat.  Then I started backing out of the drive way.  I stopped by the pharmacy and picked up my mum's pictures.  I payed for them and left the small store.  When I got back in the car I took at look at the pictures.  There were some of my cat.  As I flipped through them I saw a few of when Scarlett and I were kids.  We were really young probably five or six and we were covered in mud.  That was back when I didn't have glasses, but Scarlett did.  She looked halairious in her muddy shorts and old red tee-shirt. Its amazing how people change.  I put them down on top of the book and started the car.  I plugged my phone into the car and turned on my music.  While was driving I listened to The Beetles Blackbird.  Its sort of a sad slow song but in some odd way it makes me feel happy. The pharmacy wasn't very far away from the house.  I pulled into the driveway and noticed my mums car was in the drive way.  I grabbed the keys, book, and photos.

I walked in and there was my mum sitting at the clear, round, kitchen table with a lady who was dressed similar and was about the same age as her.  I didn't know what to ask or what to say so I pretend that I was invisible.  Something I was very good at.  I walked fast and quietly across the kitchen and didn't say a word.  Unfortunately my talent of not being noticed didn't work out.

" Oh Marcel there you are. Come here," My mum said waving her hand.  I walked over and sat down in the silver dinning room chair next to her.  " This is my lawyer Loretta.  Loretta this is my son Marcel," she introduced.

We shook hands and I couldn't get over the fact that my parents were actually getting a divorce.  I remember before the incident they used to act like the perfect couple.  They barely fought and they would always kiss.  Which I remember being utterly disgusted, but now I wish they were still doing it.  Did I really mess up my mums happiness.  I returned back to reality and saw both of the women's eyes on me in concern.

" Well I grabbed your photos," I said quietly reaching over the table and getting the small plastic bag.  Inside was a small recyclable folder that held about ten photos from the past.  She took it from my hands and opened the folder.  She sifted through them and I could not read the emotion on her face.

" Oh you were so young. And Scarlett was so adorable.  You two really have known each other," my mum sighed.  She handed a few pictures to Loretta.  She didn't say anything just glared at them and returned her gaze to the paper work.

" Oh um mum is it alright if I go out tonight?" I asked grabbing my book and started walking the stairs.

" Wait with who?" she asked in concern.

" Oh no its not like that I'm just gonna go to Scar's house and were just gonna watch a movie or something," I lied. Truth is my mum and Scarlett's mum have known each other for a long time and she knows Scar's father.  If she knew that I was even going near that mans house she would probably never let me see my best friend again.

" Oh yeah that's alright, just make sure to come home at around eleven, yeah?" She reassured and I walked upstairs and forgot to say goodbye.

Tonight is probably not going to be fun for me but Scarlett is my best friend and I know she would do this for me.
