What every depressed girl feels!
.....Dhikraa Akande.

Blush and giggles,
used to be her signature look.
Now to bury her face deep in the pillow,
feels like heaven.
Neither to hide her crimson face
Nor shy away her happiness.
But to hide her stream of tears,
caused by unending heart torture.

Was it her unrequited love for him?
Or his words of denial which stung like viper?
Was it mama and papa's love for the neighbour's kid,
whom they wished they had instead of her 'the imbecile'?
Was it the look on her classmates' faces?
sending her daggers once she steps into class.
She finds herself debating, once she asks 'why am I like this?'

'look how ugly you are, how dare you think he'ld like you?'
'You so dumb, why are you crying now that you see your grades?'
'Have you forgotten? You are world's dullard'
'you even tried studying hard for better grades, who the hell were you fooling?'
'No one loves you, wake up to reality, you can never fit in.'
The voices won't let her be,
they keep ranting in her head, like they have forgotten she can hear them.

The mirror reflects to her, all her flaws
wrong complexion,
wrong height,
bad shape,
bloated body,
Ugly body, Ugly mind.
Every misfit is all she has.

She musters courage to make things right
Eat right, Exercise right, Sleep right, talk right
All the rights with no left.
Then come the voices
'what do you think you are doing?'
'You are perfectly a misfit, don't ever try to be right'
'Just go find a room with a pillow and cry your eyes'
'choo choo'

She musters courage again
Not to give in to them
But to shut them up finally,
By ending their energy; her own life.
She pulls out a knife and holds it close to her wrist.
She press hard, then she drops it.
She can't do it.
Perhaps they love her and will cry at her demise.
She give them a chance.
Then She breaks down in tears and the cycle is repeated.
Depression is her little secret no one knows....
