The long eco's of excessive beeping filled my ears, I merely contemplated on opening my eyes when the sudden reminders of what was happening around me brought me out of my slumber. I arouse quickly feeling the painful jolt in my head of sitting up to fast while circles and dots took over my vision for a few moments. I rubbed my eyes and swung my feet over the couch to get a better look at my disaster zoned house. Inches from my feet lie that dam dog curled up and snuggled by the empty wood stove as if all was at peace. Voices surrounded me as I took the blanket from the back of the couch and ventured deeper into my home. Clean floors, fresh made beds... the aroma of different cleaners and sprays enveloped me while I continued down the hall, peaking my head around the corner of our master bedroom. Jayce sat on the foot of our bed running his newly bruised hand threw his tangled mess of blond hair. I smiled when he noticed me, motioning for me to enter the room with the hand that had intwined itself into his mane. I realized he had his blackberry risen to his ear conversing swiftly to the person on the other end. I made my way in front of him running my fingers along each of bruises gingerly, I pulled him gently to his feet while backing up myself. He stood quietly listening contentedly to the other person, I lifted his shirt above his head loving the feel of his toned chest beneath my finger tips. Smiling down at me he caught my arm in his free hand, giving me a stern look of disapproval. I shot him a sheepish grin before turning on my way to scoop out the rest of my place. Minutes later my daughters giggles filled the house while my fathers bellowing commands followed. Pitter patter of footsteps and loud talking was all to be heard as I fell to my knees taking my little girl in my arms. Not dramatically but slowly and cautiously because of my overly extensive baby bump. The gently strokes on my back began when hot tears fell from my eyes and the reasurrence of my baby girls voice subsided.
"Did you hear anything yet?" My fathers voice sounded,
"I just got off the phone with the police," Jayce responded in a hushed tone. I rose to my feet and took my daughter into the bathroom,
"Here honey, Why don't you give your puppy a bath?" I told her, at this point I just needed anything to keep her busy.
"He's outside," I directed her, Gently filling the tub to a very low level I took her with me towards my husband and dad.
"Go get him sweetie," I told her,
"Ok mum," She said back trotting towards the back door with Dixie on her heels. I ventured to the back window to watch as she chased the two dogs around the fenced yard then turned my attention to the men.
"What did they say?" I asked them both,
"Hayden won't be bothering us anymore.." Jayce started, his tone went from hushed and tolerating to down right pissed.
"Restraining order and he's locked away for quiet some time darling," My dad soothed. I stared at Jayce as his fists tightened and loosened as he played his sentence over in his head. You could practically see the tension and anger in his words as they seeped venom from his lips.
"I'm staying home." He announced looking directly at me. I nodded and retreated to the kitchen to think.
