(Deja's P.O.V./ The weekend)

I went downstairs and my mama was looking at pictures of me, my friends, and their parents.

Promise mama to the side

Hey mama. I said. Hey sweetheart. mama said. I like the old ya'll. Ya'll were sweet and stuff. Mom continued. True. I said. I wish i looked like Promise or her mama. I said sitting next to mom. Honey, your pretty in your own way. To me and lots of others people. Mom said. Yea, you,god, my friends, and Tracy. I said. You don't know that. Other boys and girls may think your pretty, they just don't tell you. Mom said. Maybe. I said getting up.

Mom, can i go natural? I asked. Sure, honey. But you know you gotta cut off all your hair? Mom asked looking at me. Yea, I do. Well we'll go next week. mom said. Yay! thanks mom! I squealed. Your welcome. She smiled.

( Promise's P.O.V.)

I get up and go downstairs to get me some cereal. I saw a car outside that wasn't ours, at least i thought so. I looked outside the window and Shawn and some others dudes were coming out the car with his dad. Shawn looked so different he cut off his braids, he had bunch of tattoos, and an ear piercing. He looked so cute, no lie.

I went upstairs and got Psalms to deal with that. For real?! She asked getting up. Then the door rung. She brushed her hair into a pony tail and went downstairs. I followed after her but ignored them at the door, i walked straight into the kitchen, without looking at them. I got me my cereal and walked passed them. No hey? Shawn asked. Hi. I said looking back at him and keep on walking upstairs.

( Shawn's P.O.V. )

Damn Promise got even more sexy and taller. But not that tall. So what you doing here? Well with them? Psalms asked. Came to talk to Promise. I said. Iight. But they were never Promise's best friend so you come in and they stay out. Psalms said. Uhh.. they came to hear words. I said. But i don't know them so their asses can stay out here. I don't give 2 fucks who they is. Psalms said. Iight whateve. I said walking in.

Aye Promise! I shouted. Shawn. Don't shout in the house. My parents sleep. Psalms said. Sure. I said. Promise came downstairs and looked me up and down in disgust. I let ya'll talk. Psalms said walking upstairs. Why you come down here? Promise asked. This is a free country last time i checked. I said. Well, my house ain't free to fakes. Promise said. Well i'm sorry. I said. You changed so much, you were the sweetest boy out of all of us. Why would you even join a gang. So if you die or go to jail. That's on you. Promise said. I know i did. I joined one cause of ya'll. And it sounds like you want me to come back. I said. Shawn, stop trying to flirt with me. Plus you joined a gang because of us? what we do? Ya'll were ganging up on me.
