Aura's POV
I wake up and look around. Same old house. I had a dream that all of this was over and Candy lived and I was with someone. I was with-
Ryan:Aura!
He walks in and looks at me.
Ryan:Did I wake you up? Sorry. Candy is crying and she wants you.
I shoot up and am out the door. I am running to Thir house and Ryan is beside me. When I walk in I see Candy in a corner crying and Skuttle is standing next to her with a
shot in his hand. I walk over and sit next to Candy. She looks up when she sees me and hugs me.
Aura:What's the problem?
Candy:I don't want the shot!
Skuttle:You need it. It will make you feel better. Please take it.
Aura:Honey,if you take the shot it will make you live longer. It will make you feel better.
Candy:Ypu don't know what he is giving me!
Skuttle:It's a flu shot. Ty got enough for all of us. If Candy gets it it could reduce the chance of her getting sicker.
I look at Candy. She is so scarred of the world but has so much hope for it. I look at Skuttle. He just wants to protect his baby sister from everything. I look over at Ryan. I still haven't figured him out. What does he have to do with any of this. I sigh.
Aura:I have a way for you to do this. Candy look into my eyes. Think of your happiest moment and live in it while Skuttle...
Candy looks in my eyes while Skuttle comes over with the shot. Candy's eyes are a beautiful brown grey color. She flinches a bit when the shot is in her but then she calms down. Skuttle walks away and goes outside. Candy hugs me and lays down in my lap.
I look over at Ryan and he half smiles at me. Candy is slowly breathing so I think she is asleep.
Aura:Thank you for coming and getting me.
Ryan:No problem. I care for Candy as much as ou do.
Aura:I don't think she understands...
Ryan:Understands what?
Aura:That the world won't get better. So far it has only gotten worse. We know nothing about Netho and how are we gonna win? There are 11 of us and hundreds in Netho. Such big hope in such a small girl.
Ryan walks over and sits next to me. I lay my head on his shoulder and feel tears in my eyes.
Ryan:No matter what, I will protect you. I will protect everyone but you are my number one on the protection list. If someone makes it out of all of this alive, I want that to be you. You would make a great leader for the new world if it comes to that. I want to protect you Aura. Heck, I need to protect you Aura. I don't want anything to happen to you.
I look over at Ryan. He seems so open right now. He is always hiding himself and not letting anyone see the real "Danny". He is opening up to me. He wants to protect me. He wants me to get out of his alive.
Aura:Well you're not my number one but you have a strong number two on my list. Candy is my main priority right now. If she dies, I'll fall apart. I can't let my world come crashing in. It has twice. One more time I may not be able to fix it.
Ryan:I could try to fix it.
I raise my head and look up at him. He half smiles and looks at me.
Ryan:For a while now, I've wanted to tell you that...that I l-
Will:Where did everyone g- oh! Sorry,did I ruin something?
Ryan:YEAH YOU DI- no. It wasn't that important anyways.
Ryan gets up and goes to the door. He looks back at me and shakes his head. Then he leaves. What was he gonna tell me?
