Welcome to Anubis... Sort of...

I took the taxi from my house to the school because my parents didn't give a shit about me. The driver seemed to be a nice guy. We talked about anything on the ride to Anubis House, where I would be spending the next few years. When I got out of the cab, he insisted on taking some of my trunks to the door at least, but I politely declined.

I started walking towards the door with one of my trunks when I bumped into a girl with straight dark brown hair and brown eyes. "S-sorry." I said. I get really shy around new people. "That's quite alright. Do you need help with those?" she replied. "Much appreciated, but I think I've got it." I said to her. "Okay, if you're sure. I'm Joy by the way." she said, holding her hand out for me to shake. I take it.

"Violet. I was actually wondering if I was at the right house. I'm supposed to be in... Anubis House?" I said. "I'm on my way there now actually. I'll show you." She said, taking one of my trunks towards the door. We walked in and everyone was saying hi to Joy and hugging her. I wonder what that's like. To have people that actually care about me. Joy was probably just being nice because I'm new and everything.

"Guys, this is Violet. She's new to Anubis House this year." Joy said. "So you better be nice to her." a guy with strange facial hair and seemed mysterious said walking down the stairs. "Of course Victor." they said. Victor, the caretaker, walked up behind me and put his hands on my shoulders. I looked up towards him cautiously, scared that he would hurt me like my so called parents did.

"I'm not going to hurt you child. I just ask that when you've met everyone here to meet me in my office just up the stairs." he whispered in my ear. I nodded. He then removed his hands from my shoulders and went upstairs.

"Of course, not everyone's here yet, but that's Patricia, Fabian, Nina, Amber, and Jerome." she said, pointing to a girl with pretty cool highlights in her hair, a boy with a kind face, a girl with light brown hair and a seemingly kind heart, a girl who makes me feel extremely self-conscious, and a rather tall boy who kinda creeps me out because he keeps staring at me. I nod my greeting before going upstairs.

I stand by the door, too scared to knock on the door leading into his office. "Come in Miss Anippe." he said, looking up from his desk. I carefully opened the door and walked in, making sure the door and all of the windows were shut and the windows were covered for the time being.

"Are you alright Ms. Anippe?" he asked me. I nodded, but he must've seen something else in my facial expression. "You are quite safe here Ms. Anippe. Nobody here can harm you unless you let them." he said, giving me a serious look. I nodded. "Th-than-thank you sir." I responded. "Of course. I hope you don't mind me asking, but why are you so scared?" he asked. "My-My parents don't know I'm here. I-I r-ran off." I replied. He nodded and allowed me to go back downstairs.

I had no problem with that and I ran back downstairs, tripping on the eighth one from the bottom. I landed on my right knee, making it seriously hurt. Trudy, the housemother, as well as Patricia, Joy, Jerome, Nina, and Fabian came running. "Are you okay?" "What happened?" and a few other questions were asked. Trudy told them all to shut up, that she thought that their questions all at once were overwhelming me, which they were.

"Are you alright dear?" she asked. "I-I think so, j-just my kn-knee hurts." I said. She had Jerome help me up and go over to the couch. I had to force myself not to scream out in pain.

Once he helped me onto the couch, he looked at me. "Must really hurt then." he said. It was then that I noticed that there were tears rolling down my face. I nodded. Trudy went to greet the rest of the students while Nina and Fabian stayed with me. I ended up leaning my head on Nina's shoulder, which was weird because I hardly knew her. Trudy then came back and looked at it. She said it was just bruised.

I then saw a blond who looked like he was more so into sports, a girl who looks like she could be Trudy's daughter, and a boy who seemed to be best friends with Jerome. "Violet, this is Mick, Mara, and Alfie. Guys, this is the new girl to Anubis, Violet. She managed to hurt herself coming down the stairs not too long ago." he said.

I rolled my eyes and managed to hit him on the back of the head with one of the cushions on the couch. Alfie, Fabian, Patricia, and Mick all burst out laughing. It was then that I noticed that Nina was missing. I make eye contact with Fabian and look to where Nina was. He shrugged. I then went up to my room, after arguing with everyone that I was perfectly fine and that I was used to doing stairs while in pain.

Apparently, I was to share a room with Nina and Amber, since Patricia and Joy were sharing with Mara. I walked into our room to see a bed set that was completely pink, which was most likely Amber's, and a set that was American, which was definitely Nina's. I took the last bed, which had wolves all over it. How they knew about my love of wolves, I have no idea.

I limped over and sat on my bed. I sighed, thinking about my baby sister, Chisisi. She is only three and she's subject to the same treatment that I got growing up. I was the one to take care of her for the past three years and I don't know what to do. "Are you okay?" Nina asked, walking in and sitting beside me. "Ye-yeah. Just worried about my sister, Chisisi." I said to her. "Why would someone call her that?" Nina asked.

"My parents are obsessed with Egypt. It's all they care about. My full name is Violet Amunet Chenzira Masika Anippe. Amunet after the goddess of mystery. Chenzira means born on a journey, which I was. I was born during their dig in Egypt. Masika meaning during rain. It was raining out the day I was born. My last name, Anippe, means daughter of the Nile, which is just where I happened to be born. Not to mention that the start of our family line was by the Nile. My sister's name is Chisisi Nathifa Urbi Menefer Anippe. Chisisi means secret, which she was for a while from my father. Nathifa means pure. That was my idea because she is pure of heart. Urbi means princess. She's my little princess since my parents don't give a shit about her. Menefer means beautiful city, because she was born in Paris, France. We were on vacation at the time. My parents still have her with them because of the fact that I'm here." I told Nina. "Wow. Impressive. I'm sorry though about your sister." she said. "I just hope that she'll be okay." I said.

I then heard the doorbell. I looked at Nina with a confused look on my face. "Everyone's here, right?" I asked her. "Yeah. I wonder what that's about." she said. We got up and went to the top of the stairs. I saw a little girl with red hair like mine and bright blue eyes. "Chi!" I said, running down the stairs, not caring about my knee. "Vi!" she shouted, running in my direction from the dining room. We met at the bottom of the stairs, where she leaped into my open arms.

"Chi, what are you doing here?" I whispered into her ear, tears rolling down my face. "Mummy and daddy didn't want me to be there, so they dropped me off here." she said. I got on my knees, despite the pain, and hugged her. I got up, releasing her from the hug, and walked her over to the couch, where I sat with her in my lap. "Vi, why don't mummy and daddy love us?" Chisisi asked me. "I don't know sweetheart. I don't know." I told her, laying back with her head on my chest.
