"Wait! She won't hurt us!" Asriel yells, wrenching her arm out of Lennia's tight grip. "Here, Twyla!" Asriel calls to the wolf. The wolf runs over and sits in front of Asriel, waiting to be stroked. "She's tame, Len. She wouldn't hurt me or anyone she can see I'm close to. This is Twyla. A wolf I met out here while I was training. She had been injured, and I helped heal her. After that, she's come back to me every night. I'd go as far as calling her my pet or even my companion. If I wouldn't get stared at or yelled at, I would take her back to town with me. Sadly, I can't," Asriel explains to her frightened friend. Asriel strokes Twyla's ears. "You'll learn to love her."
"A-Are you s-sure you should be that close to a wolf?" Lennia was still uncertain.
"Come pet her for yourself. You'll see she's tame. Hey, remember what I just told you. She comes back every night. I'm not dead or hurt, am I?" Asriel asks confidently. She knew Lennia couldn't argue with that.
"F-fine. But if she hurts me, you're paying the medical bills, and NEVER coming out here again. Especially not alone," Lennia bargains.
"Fine, but none of the other things you've brought up will happen. Just pet the poor wolf," Asriel states matter-of-factly.
"Mmm..." Lennia growls. "Fine." Lennia squats down and starts to stroke Twyla's ears. Twyla leans into Lennia hand. It's adorable.
"See? No pain, no injuries. Not even a simple scratch," Asriel says proudly. "Here, Twyla!"
Twyla runs over to the girl 'Yes, master?' Twyla can only be heard through Asriel.
"Come on, girl! Let's go show Lennia some of our little tricks. Okay?" Asriel asks.
'Of course, Master,' Twyla replies, turning towards Lennai.
"Alright, Len. We're gonna show you something pretty cool. I hope you're ready. This ought to be fun!" Asriel starts happily. "Twyla! Are there any shadows nearby?"
"Azzy...? Why are you TALKING to a wolf? She won't respond you know," Lennia states.
"She can't talk PHYSICALLY. But she can talk TELEKINETICALLY. That means she can talk to me through my mind- a special trick she inherited after I healed her," Asriel explains.
"Okay, whatever you say, Azzy," Lennia says doubtfully.
'To answer your earlier question, Master. Yes. There is a shadow hiding behind your friend. Lennia, wasn't it?' Twyla confirms.
"Yes, it's Lennia. And okay! Len, you might wanna move," Lennia does as she's told. "Alright, Twyla! Rush it!" Asriel calls. There's a glowing around the wolf. The shadow starts to partially glow, as well. Twyla rushes at it, and it explodes into dark smoke.
"What the h*** was that?!" Lennia exclaimed, scared half to death.
"Heh. Magic my friend," Asriel replies calmly.
"Not the magic! That black thing that was behind me! What WAS that?!" Lennia flipped out.
"Oh. That was a shadow," Asriel replies hesitantly.
OOOOOOOOooooooo. I wonder what a shadow is? I'm sure you've guessed it's not a run-of-the-mill everyday shadow. Total cliffhanger! Sorry, I couldn't resist! Now, just to say this. I LOVE THIS SONG!
