Chapter 5

I was dumbfounded when Luciano told me the truth. I feel so guilty accusing someone of ill doings. The worst part is that he is my mate.

Right now, I won't even react if I got the World's Worst Mate award. I'm ashamed and exhausted. I wish that everything was just a nightmare and I would wake up soon. My heart still breaks every time I remember my father. He's the best dad ever even though he's strict and over protective. I will never forgot him.

I looked for Luciano and I saw him having a serious talk with his Beta so I decided to look for Sam instead.

When I saw her standing alone, I made my way towards her. She looked so terrible when I got nearer. Her eyes were visibly red from too much crying and her cheeks were stained with dry tears.

She noticed my presence and immediately pulled me into a hug. That's when she started crying again. To be honest, I really don't know what to do in this situation. Everything just seems impossible to happen.

"Sam, everything will be fine." She nodded her head and hugged me tighter.

"I'm still here. I will never leave you." We pulled apart from the hug. Sam looked pitiful. And as a friend, I will always be there for her.

In order to change the atmosphere, I asked her about Nate.

Her eyes widened instantly. Well, somebody thought I didn't knew. I rolled my eyes inwardly. It took her long to reply but then managed.

"How did you know?" She asked, a bit of possessiveness clear in her voice. And for the second time, I rolled my eyes.

"Sam there's something I need to tell you." I was nervous and I don't know why. Her prying eyes made me uneasy.

"What is it?" Her tone is dead serious.

Should I tell her? Of course! She'll be suspicious if I don't tell her and sooner or later she will eventually find out.

So I started speaking.

"Well..." I started.

"Well what?" She impatiently waited.

"You see... It's not just you who found a mate."

It took her a few seconds before realizing. "YOU HAVE A MATE?!" I nodded my head shyly.

She was shocked. Well, that was also my first reaction when I found out she has a mate too.

"You're lying." How can she not believe me?

"Why would I lie? Fine. Don't believe me." It's up to her if she wants to believe me or not.

"Okay. I believe you." It seems like she was forced to say those words out.

"Now, who is the unlucky guy?" I choked on my saliva.

"Excuse me, but that guy is very lucky to have the most gorgeous mate." I joked.

"Really?" A deep voice queried.

I stood there, regretting the words that came from my mouth. Shit. Why did I say that?

I inwardly debated whether I should turn around or not and being the dumb girl I am, I turned around.

Now I was hoping the ground would swallow me.

My mate is standing in front of me with a huge smirk plastered on his flawless face.

He wrapped his muscular arms around my waist and pulled me into a tight hug.

I looked over Sam and my predictions were correct. Her mouth dropped open, and disbelief crossed her features.

"Now, answer me. Am I lucky to have you? Because right now, I feel like I'm the luckiest wolf in the planet."

I'm speechless. Aside from that, my cheeks are burning so bad. How can he say that? Now, my heart's beating so fast.

I look down, embarrassed.

I heard Luciano's name being called. Before releasing me, he kissed my forehead. My mind is going blank and my heart is gonna explode.

"I'll return shortly. We will go to my pack soon so get ready." I nod my head.

But before leaving, he did something unexpected.

He gave me a peck on the lips.
