Sam and I finished packing. We only brought some clothes and other important stuff.
I felt unsure of leaving. I'm going to miss this pack, the place where I grew up. I know it's traditional, to live with your mate and all but I wasn't sure if I really need to leave. I'm supposed to be the Alpha and it's my duty to protect my pack.
I heaved a sigh and went outside carrying my bag. My eyes were heavy because I barely slept, thanks to Samantha.
There were SUVs waiting for us. Luciano stood near Nate, arms crossed. Once he saw me, he walked towards my direction and helped me with my things.
"Luciano, there's something we need to talk about."
He turned around to face me.
"Um... Is it really necessary for me to leave and-"
"Of course." He cut me off before I could finish talking. Thankfully, he remained calm. I thought he would be angry if I asked him about that.
"But what about my pack? Who's gonna take care of them if I leave?" I questioned him. I'm now the current alpha since I'm the only child of my late father. My head was aching, plus I was not that interested with pack business. I don't often go to meetings.
"Since you are my mate, you're destined to stay by my side. The position of alpha will be given to your beta. We already discussed it and he agreed." I can't believe it. Everything's going fast.
It's fine for me if our beta, John, will be the next alpha. He's a good man, but leaving my pack makes me sad.
I slowly nod my head. It's heartbreaking to leave my pack. But I understand. I'm going to be the Luna of Luciano's pack. Being seperated with my mate is the worst thing that could happen. And I won't allow it. He's all I have.
Luciano stared at my gloomy face and heaved a sigh. "Don't worry, sweetheart. We'll be visiting again, I promise." My face lit up in joy. I thanked him, earning a wink in return. I blushed.
After we bid good-bye, we left immediately because his pack needs him. I understand because he's the alpha.
I slept the entire ride. Samantha and Nate rode a different SUV so I didn't have anyone else to talk to besides Luciano.
The vehicle finally stopped and that's when I realized that we finally arrived at Luciano's pack, the northen pack.
I gave out a yawn and rubbed my eyes before fixing my appearance. A minute passed before nervousness swallowed me. I was now wide awake.
What if they don't like me? What if they think I'm not good enough? I suddenly felt concious. At this moment, I want to become someone else.
"Davina." I was pulled away from my thoughts.
My head instantly flew towards his direction. He looked relaxed. Unlike me.
"They're going to accept you as their luna. I'm sure of it." He reassured me with a smile. My heart fluttered at this.
I'm not perfect, everyone is not. But somehow, this guy makes me feel damn special.
"Thanks." I murmured and forced out a smile. What he said made me a bit relaxed, but my anxiety is still killing me.
The moment we got off the car, everyone's eyes were situated at us. I gulped and gave a small smile and wave. I mentally slapped my forehead. I shouldn't have done that! I probably looked childish in front of them.
Some returned my smile, thankfully. Some were shocked, and some were absolutely curious of who I am. Their eyes blazed with interest when Luciano snaked his arm around my waist.
"Everyone," They all tore their gazes away from his hold. They listened to him intently like every word he said was holy.
"This is Davina. My mate. And your luna." He said smoothly.
I swore I heard gasps and whispers. They were disappointed, I know. I wasn't enough for their alpha. I did not meet their expectations.
By the time I decided to run off, Luciano grabbed me forcefully and held me closely to him.
"Stay." He whispered.
And then it happened. I heard the cheers and the excitement of the crowd. Everyone was giddy. They looked pleased.
"Welcome to the pack, Luna!" Someone said, and I couldn't stop myself from smiling.
"She's so beautiful!" I heard a little girl tell her friends and I almost laughed. This had to be a joke.
"See? They all love you." My heart melted at his words. I feel completely happy. I was worried they would not accept me, and seeing their reactions proved me otherwise.
"There shall be a banquet tonight to welcome the luna, and each one of you is invited and urged to attend."
Again, claps filled the crowd and everyone was clearly excited, including me.
I gave Luciano my biggest sincere smile before he gently grabbed my hand and leaned closer to whisper,
"Anything for my baby."
Damn this wolf for causing butterflies inside my stomach.
