"So listen, this isn't some stupid tv show where, lets see, the guy gets distracted or, the girl takes the gun from his hand. I just want to kill her first."
I seen his finger slightly twitch and I made my move. I threw myself at him. With all of my strength and weight, I lay on top of him. The gun was nowhere to be seen. I looked around on the floor, as hunter was struggling. I looked up at Nira, and she had it. She was trembling. Oh my was she shaking. I got up, grabbing the gun, and holding her. Holding her warmth. Holding her pain. I was going to make this right. I felt her tears soak into my shirt. I turned around, looking at hunter laying on the floor.
"Some tv show..." I said. He got up. Holding his back. I put my arm around Nira and pointed the gun in his direction. He pulled a second from his back. How the hell?
"I knew it! I knew you were going to have to be the hero, so I packed this little bad boy just in case. That gun doesn't have any bullets you dumbass." It did feel a little light for a gun.
Bang.
The bullet whizzed passed us and nearly popped my eardrum. I grabbed Nira and dragged her towards the door. Still shooting. Windows broke, holes in the walls and floors. I knew he would eventually hit one of us. That's what scared me the most. I knew that as soon as he did, it was over. He wasn't playing. I grabbed the doorknob but it was locked. I tried to unlock it but it was to risky.
"What do we do?" Nira said. I grabbed her and we ducked behind the kitchen counter.
"I dont know I need to think." I looked in her eyes. The eyes that I fell in love with, and the eyes that I just might lose this evening.
"I dont know what's going to happen, i dont know what to do, I usually have a plan but, I'm stuck. I'm scared. I really am. I know Hunter well enough that he will do something. He will not regret it and he will get away with it." She stared at me. Looking so dazed.
"I wish this was a dream." She said. Looking down.
"I wish all of this could be something I could wake up from."
"Me too. But it's not." I began crying.
"I failed my job. I'm-I'm a terrible person. I promised to protect you and yet-"
"I am still alive." I looked at her. The way you look at somebody you haven't seen in years.
"I love you." She opened her mouth and another shot shattered the wine glass cabinet.
"Hunter!" I yelled. The shots didn't stop and he couldn't hear me.
"HUNTER!" I yelled. The noise paused. And it was dead silent. We both sat and waited. I didn't even know what I was going to say.
"Stand up." Hunter said. No emotion whatsoever in this command.
