" Look, Gina, there goes mommy over there. Shay, over here!"
Gina and I were at the airport picking up Shay. She had finally come back from her " cruise around the world", in other words, fucking every different nationality of man possible. Like I said she would, she dropped that guy, I forgot his name, like a hot potato and moved onto the next.
" Oh. My. Gosh! I missed you two!" Shay screamed as she got closer to where we were. She was so loud that damn there everyone in the airport turned towards her, but do you think she cared?
" Mommy! Mommy, we missed you, too!"
It's amazing that no matter what a mother did or does to their child, that child still loves them. You would think that after not seeing or hearing from her mother in almost two months, Gina would be upset with her, hate her almost but I guess that's the plus of a child's love, it's unconditional.
" So, how was your trip?" I asked Shay once we were in the car. Gina was accupied with her IPad so we could talk and not worry about her listening.
" It wasn't a trip. It was business and it was great. Had a lot of fun, met a lot of people. I'm happy that I went with modeling instead of continuing college."
" Yeah, but, wouldn't you like to run your own business? Don't you want to feel that pride when you see people wearing your designs?"
Shay let out a sigh. " Stop, Victoria. Things change, people change. I've changed. I had to grow up and fast. I didn't need to continue chasing a dream that wouldn't come true and I wish you would just leave that subject alone."
" Well, I'm sorry. You just used to be so happy sketching and sewing your clothes. You took pride in what you did, Shayna. I just wish that you would have never given up so easily on your dream. You weren't alone and you're still not."
" Oh, just shut the fuck up, Victoria! Do you think that you're better than me because you finished school, got married to a celebrity and live the most perfect fucking life? Huh?" Shay yelled at me.
Her outburst had actually startled me because Shay had never spoke to me that way. I looked in the rearview mirror to see that Gina had stopped playing on her IPad and was now looking between Shay and I. She, too, looked scared.
" I'm sorry, Shay. I didn't mean to upset you on your first day back. I just want you to know that you don't need to feel like you have to do things on your own. You have family, you know."
" Yeah. Believe me, I understand everything that you say but.... I just completely fucked up my life, you have no idea. I thank you for being here for me, you and Bastian. Out of everyone, including Reggie, you two have been there for me everytime. I don't know how I can make it up you guys."
I wrapped my right arm around her and gave her a hug as best as I could. " You don't need to repay us in no way. You're my sister, I'll go to the end of the world for you and my niece. You know that."
Shay wiped away tears that I didn't notice had fell and smiled the bright smile like when she was younger. " I know, Icky Vicky."
This is why I never give up on her. Deep inside, I could still see the old Shay. I could tell that she wanted to be the old Shay, again, but she needed a pull. For some reason, she was scared to go back to her old self.

" Who's car is that?" Shay pointed to a red Lexus in my driveway.
" I don't know but we're about to find out."
I parked my car right in back of the strange car and examined it after I got out of my car. Never have I ever seen any one that I knew drive a car like this. I helped Shay with her bags then got Gina out of the car and told her that she could go play in the back yard. Once I knew she was safely behind the gate, I went in the house.
