It's been a whole month since school first started and, so far, it's been great. Shay and I haven't seen much of each other since we're still in the beginning of school but I'm praying that everything evens out so we can hang out more. I miss my sister.

" Victoria! Victoria you forgot your book. Here." I turned around and retrieved my book from a guy that I met in my Trauma and Crisis class. I think his name was John or Billy..maybe Jason?

" Uh, thanks...."

" Jackson. My friends call me Jacky, though. I don't know why but they do." He replied with a smile. He was cute with his light dust of freckles dancing across his nose and cheeks. He was a weird combination of colors. His hair was light blonde, his eyes were a greenish/brown and he had red freckles. Weird but cute.

" Thanks, Jackson. I'm sorry about forgetting your name. I'm not really good with them. I'm Victoria, by the way." I held out my hand for him to shake. He seemed kind enough to become friends with.

He took my hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. " I already knew your name. You sit next to me in class, Victoria Whittsfield. The girl who has never once taken that baseball cap off since I've seen her. Everyone is starting to think that you're bald under that hat. Are you?" He asked me as he reached for my hat to take it off. I backed away and playfully smacked his hand.

" No, I'm not." I readjusted my cap to make sure it was on tight. " Why is everyone so interested in me anyways?" I asked him as we began walking toward the parking lot. He looked at me and smirked. A faint tinge of pink crept up his face. Looked like I had a crush already.

" You barely talked to anyone since school has started and you haven't gotten a partner yet. We have six months but everyone else already paired up, including me. Sorry." He winked at me. I stopped walking and turned to him.

" What's that suppose to mean? Who said I even wanted to be your partner, Jack?"

" He laughed and pointed to me. " That's what I mean. You've already given me a petname and we just began talking. You like me. I know you do."

" How can I like you when we literally just met? Besides, I can't like you. It's against my...I just can't deal with guys and relationships while I'm in school. I want to stay focused. We can be friends, though. You seem like a nice guy." I tried reassuring him. I could see the taken back look on his face as I talked. I didn't want to make enemies with the first person that talks to me.

" Friends? Friends?" He stood with his hand under his chin and a thinking face on, stretching the word friend as if it was an experiment. " I guess that would work considering that we just, actually, met. This your truck?" He asked pointing to my Ford Edge.

" Yeah, he's my baby. You have a car?" I opened the passenger door to my car and put my bookbag and other things in. I looked at Jack, who was still examining my car, and raised my eyebrow. " What are you doing?"

" This truck is amazing. Can I look in the inside? Please?" He pleaded. I nodded to him and watched him dive into the car. I stood there, patiently, waiting for him to get done. I don't know what was so special about Batman, my truck. It was a simple car.

" This thing is loaded. Your truck is amazing and I like the Batman seats. How in the hell did they get the Batman logo on pure leather?"

I shrugged. " I don't know. Do you need a ride anywhere because I have to go. I'm meeting with my friend on the other side of campus."

" No, my dorms only a ten minute walk away. Why don't you live in the dorms?" He asked as he finished examining my truck.

" I have a dog and they don't allow dogs in the dorms. Besides, I like having my own space. I bet you those dorms are tiny as shit for freshmen." He blushed and looked away.
