" The annual Charity event will be coming up soon, honey. This will mark our fifth year of being successful business owners. We were surely blessed, don't you think? Tori? Victoria? Did you hear me, baby?"

" Huh?"

" Are you okay, Tori? You seem out of it these last few days. Is there something wrong?" Sebastian came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me, kissing my neck.

I gently moved his arms away and continued washing the dishes. Did this man not have any decency? Does what he did not affect him? He still acted like he loved me but does he actually do? Honestly?

" Nothing is wrong. I just.. I've been extremely tired lately. Between dealing with my clients and trying to get Gina settled in, I haven't been getting enough sleep."

" I wanted to talk to you about, Gina, actually. There's something that's been on my mind and I wanted to talk it over with you." Sebastian said, putting his head on my shoulder.

I finished washing the last dish and put it in the drying rack. The tone of Bastian's voice made me a little nervous. He sounded serious..

" Can we talk about this in a couple of hours-"

" Why, are you going for a nap?"

" No. I have a doctors appointment in thirty minutes."

Sebastian backed away from me but managed to turn me around all in the same motion. He looked at me from head to toe then touched my forehead. I watched him as he "checked me over" intently. He did this everytime I told him I had a doctors appointment so that he could swindle me to get out of it. Sebastian hated the doctors office. I had to go with him everytime he went, especially when he had to get his blood taken.

I swatted his hands away and smiled. " I'm fine, Bass. It's just a check-up to see how the baby is doing? That's all."

The glint in his eyes faltered as his eyes lowered down to my stomach. Clearing his throat, he backed away and said : " I forgot about that."

I tried to act like what he said didn't bother me so I played it off and asked him if he wanted to come. He replied with a "no" and that he needed to go to work, suddenly. I watched him go around the kitchen, collecting his work things, and tried very hard not to say anything. I was on the verge of tears. Did he actually just call our child a "that"?

I swallowed back my tears and walked after my husband, to the front door. " No good-bye kiss, Bastian?"

Sebastian glanced over at me just as he was about to get into his car, " I'll make it up to you later. Plus, we still need to have that talk. I'll see you later, Tori."

Watching him back out the driveway, I wondered how in the hell could my husband go from sweet, to sour, then back to sweet in a matter of minutes. He was like that back in college, so there's nothing different there. But, the thing that changed was that it was getting worst.

I got to my appointment a little earlier since there was nothing left for me to do at the house. I sat in the waiting room with a few other women. They were all just like me, without no one with them. I wondered if they all had the same situation like I did or were all of our stories completely different. Surely I couldn't be the only one in my type of situation.

" Mrs.Mavericks, you're up."

I swear that when the nurse called my name, the women all looked at each other, smiled and began speaking to each other in hushed tones. The nurse looked at them with a raised eyebrow that made the women giggle. When she shut the door, she laughed and shook her head.
