Chapter One: The Park Meeting
Kiss me... Please, kiss me!
Woah. Hi there! We are currently in the month of October, the first few weeks of October, actually. And I am begging this poor boy to kiss me. In my head.
You see, I am what my friends call a Lip Virgin. Meaning, I have never had my first kiss. Well, I WAS a Lip Virgin, and I was sooooo ready for someone to plant their lips on mine. I was kinda desperate.
I wasn't really desperate for making out though, I just wanted that earth shattering movie moment. I wanted what Hollywood was promising me for 14 years, my happy ending. But, this guy I was trying to get to kiss me was actually way more than what I bargained for...
It all started in Summer, mid-August. There's a small park across the street from my house, so being the best big sister ever, I took my five year old sister and 12 year old brother to the so said park. Translation: My mom kicked my brother, my sister, and I out of the house for some ''fresh air". *Rolling my eyes*
Anyways, after 30 minutes of sitting at the park, dying of heat, I noticed the shape of 2 bicyclists approaching down the street. I quickly noted that they were guys and I immediately felt worried, my thoughts jumped to me, and my siblings, lying dead in a ditch somewhere. I walked over and grabbed ahold of my sisters hand and hollered to my brother to get out of the bushes.
The guys on the bikes turned into the parking lot of the park and once they got closer, I started to relax. They were teenagers, but younger than me. I tugged at my shirt, trying to appear busy, while I listened in on their conversation.
My back was turned towards them as they talked. The boys had gotten off their bikes and had raided the wooden castle playground.
After a few minutes of them rough housing, I heard one of them say,
"Hey. Is that Katrina?"
The other asked,
"As in Adam's Katrina?"
"Yeah, her."
"Well there's only one way to find out... Katrina? Pssst. Hey! Psssst. Girl, are you Katrina?" the second one asked.
I slowly turned to the two boys and asked,
"May I help you?" Faking a smile, feeling flustered and annoyed.
"Ah! It is her!" One of them said. He was blonde, around 5'8, and his hair had been cut too short in my opinion.
He had a sassy way about him, like he felt as if he was on top of the world, but also at the bottom. His smile seemed goofy and also kiddish. He definitely had some growing up to do.
The other guy was tall and a brunette. And I was pretty certain his name was Erin.
"Well, I know his name," pointing to the brunette, " but I don't know yours." I said, pointing back to the tall blonde.
He smirked and jumped off the playground, landing with a thud,
"Lyle."
I smirked, "Ohhhhhh. Now I remember! You had a thing for Miles in May." I both told them that they were adorable, but they just wouldn't hook up.
Lyle shrugged his shoulders and then began climbing over the wooden play set while I gave my sister a sip of water and scolded my brother for playing in what could have possibly been poison ivy. Lyle suddenly began cursing, probably from getting a splinter, so I turned around and said,
"There are children among us! Watch your language."
He stared at me and exclaimed,
"F*** no." And he and his friend started to laughing at me. I glared at them until they both stopped giggling like insane Hyenas.
Lyle coughed in his hand and apologized. He smiled at me and I felt my face get hot... with frustration, of course.
I was about to say something, but my phone buzzed in my back pocket, declaring that I had received a text. I scanned the text I had gotten from my dad in a matter of seconds before I turned all my attention to my sister, telling her that it was time to go home and if she was good, she would get Ice Cream and go to the beach.
I then screamed at my brother that we were leaving and then turned to Lyle,
"Well. See ya!" and with that, I turned, and started walking home... until-
"Hey, Katrina, wait. Let me see your phone so I can put in my number." Lyle called.
This. This is when I should have kept walking. I should have walked straight home, and never talk to this boy again... Or, I should have said no.
But I didn't. And it will cost me.
I handed him my phone and said,
"Sure."
Once he put in his number, I turned around and headed home, my sister tugging on my arm and my brother acting as always, stupid.
