I woke up to the sound of stuff falling in the kitchen.

"Cake, what the heck!" Fionna shouted.

I groaned and covered my head with my pillow.

"Guys stop! You're gonna wake up Finn!" Jake yelled back at them.

"Too late!" I shouted.

Everything was back to normal in my house. Besides the occasional awkward moment when I couldn't do something I would normally be able to do and Fionna tiptoeing around everything to do with my injuries and Flame Prince, everything was pretty normal.

I got out of my bed and changed into my clothes. I climbed down the ladder into the kitchen. Fionna and Cake were making some sort of food for breakfast. Jake was sitting at the table reading a book.

"Good morning sugar." Cake smiled at me before going back to cooking.

"Did you sleep good?" Jake asked as I sat next to him.

"Better than I have been." I rubbed my eyes.

"Are you having nightmares or something?" He made sure to be quiet so Fionna couldn't hear.

"Yeah." I sighed, "My wrists also hurt when I'm trying to fall asleep for some reason."

He patted my shoulder in sympathy.

"You can probably tell Bubblegum or Gumball next time you see them. They might know what that's all about."

"I think it's just my mind playing tricks on me."

"Yeah." He agreed.

I didn't say anything else. Jake, realizing I didn't want to continue the conversation, went back to reading his book. I was glad no one was trying to push me to talk.

Ever since I'd come home, my family kept their distance. I wasn't sure if they weren't ready to talk about it or if they were afraid I wasn't, but I wasn't complaining. Every time I thought about it, my chest hurt, my head throbbed, and I felt like I was going to break down crying.

I'd seen Flame Prince at least once a week since it happened. Even he didn't want to talk about it. Even though he was careful to avoid the topic, I could still tell he was still thinking about it constantly. He would often stare at me with this far off, forlorn look in his eyes. It had destroyed us both, wrecked all of us so bad that we couldn't refer to it as anything else but it. Not speaking of it as it really was made it better somehow. It made it seem like it wasn't that horrible, like it wasn't this awful scarring thing that had happened to me. Still, only saying it didn't keep the nightmares away. Nothing did.

I was startled out of my thoughts by a plate being set in front of me. I looked up to see Fionna smiling at me.

"Eat up, little bro."

I looked down at the plate. Her and Cake had made some sort of egg, sausage, and hash brown casserole. It didn't look appetizing but it sure smelled good. I picked up my fork and started eating. It was good. I wasn't surprised, though. Cake was a good cook.

I bumped my arm on the table, right on my scar. I hissed and dropped my fork as the dull pain from making contact with the sensitive tissue jolted through my body. Everyone jumped and looked at me in concern. I glanced at them briefly before looking at my wrists. The scars were still pink and fresh; the skin was still extremely sensitive. I huffed in frustration. I couldn't do anything right anymore.

Cake stood and picked my fork up off the floor. She walked into the kitchen to get me a new one. She came back and handed it to me.

"There you are sugar."
