Terra angrily stuffed a napkin into her ice water, trying to rid her hand of the sticky barbecue sauce from her sandwich.
Debra eyed her up and down, crossing her eyebrows and wrinkling her nose. The glass she was holding was set down and was scooted farther away from her. "What's gotten into you?"
Terra quit dabbing at her palm and glanced around nervously. "I'm freaking out, that's what!"
Debra raised an eyebrow. "Are you seriously still on that guy you were dreaming about?"
Terra's eye quickly darted past Debra's shoulder. "Of course I am! Don't you think it's strange at all? Are you-" she jabbed a finger at Debra's face. "-are you playing a prank on me?"
Debra's hands shot up in exaggeration. "I know I've done crap like that before, but trust me I promise," she patted Terra's hand cautiously. "I didn't play a prank on you. If I had actually seen that guy, I would tell you."
Terra paused for a moment, letting her swelling irritation bellow in her chest. Sucking in a breath, she slumped in her seat, letting her hands dangle at the edges of the chair. "Whatever."
"Maybe you're just all jacked up on sugar."
Terra immediately changed the subject. "When is your brother coming?"
Debra paused for a moment, sliding her tongue over her teeth in thought. "Um...three?"
"Well it's two thirty now, we might as well get a jump start on getting to the gates."
"But...I'm not finished-"
Debra's rebuttal wavered in her throat as Terra suddenly took her hand and started dragging them both across the sleek floors. "I just want to get out of here."
Debra sullenly glanced over her shoulder at the unfinished plate of fries and grudgingly caught Terra's stride, shifting the bag on her shoulder.
The airport was definitely crowded today. Mainly because it was the weekend before the first day of summer. People all around them were dressed in shorts or t-shirts, some women even wore flowing dresses. Terra felt out of place in her parka and dark jeans. Debra however was prepared and had worn a casual dress. Green as always because it was her favorite color.
"Do you think we can stop on the way home and grab a burger?"
Terra wanted to object because she wanted to get to the house as quickly as possible, but shoved it away as she scanned Debra up and down. Debra wasn't exactly the thinnest person ever, but she wasn't the largest either. She was....healthy. Unlike Terra who had gained the trait of thicker thighs and smaller waist from her mother.
Terra sighed. "Sure."
Debra's eyes lit up as they pushed their way past a swarming crowd around the baggage claim.
"What time is it now?" Terra asked.
Debra whipped out her phone, checking her touch screen. "It's two thirty-nine. Why are you so impatient?"
"I'm one of those people that aren't patient, okay? Now let's go outside. I can't stand how stuffy it is in here."
Debra rolled her eyes. "It's going to be worse outside."
Terra waved her off and hurriedly made her way towards the front doors. They slid open with a whoosh as she breathed in the fresher air. Debra had managed to catch up to her when she pointed in front of them. "Oh look, my brother's here!"
Terra glanced at the sleek black car in front of them, noticing a tall figure leaning against it. It was Davis, Debra's brother. His 6'2 height and wavy golden hair and the Hawaiian t-shirt he was wearing made him blend into Orlando perfectly.
