"Alright guys, be careful!"
Terra and Debra stood on a dock, watching as Debra's brother Davis and another friend of his started to back a boat into the harbor. Terra had made Debra beg her brother to take them out to go boating, and it looked like it was the perfect day to do so. The sun was high in the sky, casting beams of heat into the cool water of the sea. The beach near bye was very crowded. It was filled with children playing in the sand and the elderly were bathing in the water. Gentle waves washed up against the mossy deck below Terra's feat, revealing sparkling bodies of fish as they swam below the surface. Terra sucked in a deep breath of coastal Florida air, ready to break into a sprint towards the cold sea water.
"Alright, back it up...you're good....you're good....you're good....stop!" Davis held up a hand as he stood up in the boat while his friend Kanani stopped the large truck. Davis climbed over towards the front of the boat, catching a nozzle in his hands and turning it counter clockwise. The boat slowly unlatched from the bed of the trailer while it was slowly scooped up by the shallow water. As soon as Davis was free from the trailer, he backed up, revving the boat towards the dock where Terra and Debra stood.
"Don't scratch dad's boat Davis, he'll kill you."
Terra smiled as Davis flashed a toothy grin as he slowly floated up to the front of the dock.
"Climb in!"
Terra kicked of her shoes and ascended into a seating area at the front while Debra sat across from her.
"Wait for me!" Kanani started running down the dock, towel and shoes in hand. Playfully, Davis started backing away from the dock.
"Davis!" Marco took a leap from the dock. crashing down next to Terra. Davis laughed uproariously and continued on his way away from the beach area.
"You suck," Kanani hoisted himself to his feet slumping down on a spot next to Terra. A frightful heat crept up into Terra's face as he threw an arm behind her. Debra eyed the action up and down, but didn't say anything. Terra gave Kanani a few nervous glances. He was a native to the Hawaiian islands, and was everything the opposite of Davis. Kanani was well tempered, kind, serious and responsible. Whereas Davis was playful, immature, irresponsible and could get provoked fairly easy. However over the years that Kanani and Davis had known each other, they balanced each other out. Terra fidgeted and kept from staring at him. Not only had she known Kanani for a long time, but she also had developed a crush on him as well.
Kanani flipped his floppy brown hair, slipped on a pair of sunglasses over his dark brown eyes and tapped his fingers against the side of the boat.
"So, where are we going today?" Terra asked, tugging on a lock of hair.
"I don't know, should we go on an adventure?" Davis slipped a snide smile towards Kanani, who replied with a vigorous nodding of his head. Davis placed his hand over a handle on the side of the boat, pushing it downwards. The boat shot forward away from the beach, slapping against the waves in the open water.
Terra threw her hands in the air, letting a heavy sigh escape her lips. "I missed this!"
Debra and her high-fived, smiling widely as they sped onward.
"Hey, toss me a drink!"
Debra reached out her hand, catching a dripping can of Pepsi from Kanani. The can hissed when she popped it open while she sat down on the spot next to Terra. Terra was busying herself by dragging a lazy finger through the glassy surface of the water below. In the blue depths, she could detect the colorful coral reef below. Fish in all sizes and colors swam below, their scales shimmering in the beams of light spilling into the water.
