Chapter 18: A New Unexpected Answer

The moment he looked at me a wolf attacked him. I screamed. So loudly everyone stopped to see where it had come from.

The guy next to me made me sit and said, "He's OK. Don't worry. He's coming soon. Once he's finished with the alpha."

I was too scared to answer. I was in so much shock from what I saw that I couldn't even cry. The tears were just there but they wouldn't fall.

Gracie moves away from the guy (I should really ask what his name is) and holds me telling me kind soothing words.

Then the door is ripped open. I turn hoping to see Michael but it isn't. Instead it's...Thomas! I honestly was not expecting him at all. Where has he been this whole time? Why isn't he out there helping Michael?

"Get away from her." is what brought me out of my jumbled thoughts.

"I'm not here to hurt her. I have to get her away from here if not the alpha will get her. She was supposed to have a normal life. If I hadn't intervened... I-" he stutters.

"What are you talking about Thomas?" I saw making my mouth move.

"Aunt was never supposed to come. I just wanted to meet you so bad...I thought nothing would happen. We'd meet you would know about me and that's it. I'm so stupid!" he says kicking a chair denting it.

"Wait we were never supposed to come to New York?"

"Yeah. And when I met you and told me about Michael I knew bad things would come. Something always has to happen to our family!!" he beyond mad and frustrated by now. Gracie and the guy are backing away from him.

I stand up and say, "What do you mean bad things always happen to us?" I say so confused by now.

"Haven't you seen all the signs yet?!" he says yelling at me. I take a step back he doesn't notice and continues. "First your mate's pack has been after us for centuries now. Then our parents split us up without any traces. After that they die leaving you with our aunt and me with the pack. To top it all off your mate wants to kill me. Literally! Oh and did I mention that your mate banished a very special person that you cared about. What was his name? Sam I think it was." I'm left shocked by all this information. But the thing that hurts the most is Sam.

"He banished Sam? No your lying! He wouldn't so that to his best friend, to me." I was backing up slowly grabbing my hair.

He can't do this to me. My first real friend. The one who helped me with all this werewolf crap. And now Michael takes him away from me!

I scream. Though this time so loud all the werewolves hold they're ears. I run out of the house and into the woods. Everyone is frozen so no one stops me.

I go deep into the woods not stopping trying to get away from them from my life. On the way branches scratch my face and bare arms. Then I hear a voice.

"Aubrey! Wait I have to explain!" It's Michael.

I climb up a tree to one of its highest branches. And they're I finally break down. Tears fall down my cheeks quickly and into my lap.

First my parents then aunt Lily and now Sam. I can't anymore. I can't loose anyone else. They all meant so much to me and now they're gone.

"Aubrey. Please listen to me."

I cover my ears hard still crying. "No I won't! You took away the last person I cared about! How could you do this to me Michael?!" I scream at him more angry then sad now.

"What about me? You can talk to me. Please come down." he says in a begging tone.

"I want to talk to someone else not just you. We were close. I just.. can't believe you would do that." I say sad all over again.

"I wasn't thinking Aubrey. I was so mad that he took you from me. I was selfish and just banished him. But please right now I need you. Please. Please." he says sliding down to his knees.
I come down the tree silently and end up next to him. His body is shaking and when I tilt his chin up the tears are still there. I hug him he hugs me back crying on my shoulder.

Once he's calmed down I tilt his head up with my fingers on his chin. "Everything will turn out fine. Don't worry. We'll get though this together." I kiss him passionately and he kisses me back. His lips taste like salt from his tears. He grabs my neck and kisses me more intensely. I feel as if we're the only two people in the world right now.

He leans back and says, I love you."

I don't hear that word so often so when he says it I get a warm feeling in me. I smile and say, "I know."

Pulling his shirt to me I kiss him again. This time I pull back and say, "Let's go. We have a pack to take care off."

He gets up and puts a hand out to me which I gladly accept. I brush off the dirt on my pants and start walking toward the alphas house.

When we get there bodies everywhere. There is people crying over some of them the rest are waiting, wandering not knowing what to do.

Michael let's go of my hands and yells out, "Listen up!" immediately everyone's eyes are on him.

"Let's clean up all the debris and the bodies. If one was a friend and or family member you may bury them wherever. My pack help those who are injured and the rest with bodies thank you. And ask me if you need anything else." everyone nods and gets to work.

Me and Michael walk around helping the injured get what they need. And also helping grieving families, well mostly me with that part.

By the time everything's picked up the sun is setting and everyone starts to go home. Me and Michael are one of the last ones to leave making sure everyone is fine.

We get into bed and I'm half asleep when Michael says, "Professor Trelawney."

"What?" I saw confused.

"The answer for your question that I couldn't answer."

"Oh yeah your right. Took you long enough. But goodnight now I'm tired."

"Goodnight." he says kissing my cheek. I smile and am consumed by the beautiful thing of sleep.

Just kidding. The next chapter will be an epilogue and then you'll have to wait for the next book called... Im not saying anything. Well it's not called that I'm just not going to tell you what it's called. (I'm confusing myself)

After the epilogue there's going to be a about the next book. Like what it's going to be called and what's it about and when it'll hopefully come out.
