"Ohhh!!! T, you just have to buy that one!" Sonya exclaims when I push out from behind the lush red curtain, the only thing separating me from humiliation.
In the last hour and a half, Sonya and I have managed to work our way up and down different streets, Sonya showing me all the best shops and finding the best deals. She's got a gift. With all our savings I've managed to get 3 new tees, 2 adorable blouses, 2 pairs of jeans, a pair of combat boots (comfy, warm and perfect) and a couple different colors of nail polish. All for 120$!
"Since I only have about 20 minutes left until I need to meet Mom to get my hair done, we have to go now." I say absentmindedly as I twirl in front of the 3 mirrors.
The outfit I have on consists of the cutest sky blue dress with sunflowers all over. When I spin, the skirt poofs up like a little sunflowery cloud of happiness, ready to carry me through winter all the way back to summer.
"Ok.. But the dress! You have to get it! It just looks so perfect on you!!" Sonya gushes, fingering the soft material.
"I don't know.. I mean it's September so I wouldn't get to wear it anyway. And by the time summer comes again, I'll have probably grown out of it!" I say disappointedly.
"Winter schminter! Buy the dress! You never know what occasions you'll need it for!" She grins at me, winking. If I hate a quarter for every time Sonya has winked at me in the last hour, I'd probably be able to go on a whole other shopping spree!
"Mmm.. Ok fine! I'll get it." I smile at the thought of getting to wear my dress to parties.

(20 minutes later)
A bell chimes as we leave the store. I check my watch, seeing that I have to meet Mom in around 10 minutes.
As Sonya and I walk around the corner onto Crescent Street, where we split up.
"Hey.. Do you still have some time? We could go grab something at Chelsea's?" Sonya points to a bakery with a classy white and black sign on it saying.. "Chelsea's".
As we walk closer, the previously faint smell of baking bread becomes stronger and delicious. There are a couple chairs and tables outside with curly detail.
"Chelsea's has been open since.. Ever I guess!" Sonya gives one of her high pitched giggles. "It's a bakery, run by this old Italian lady. Apparently her family moved to Seabrook when she was a baby. Her names actually Maria but I guess she likes the name Chelsea better." Sonya shrugs. "I heard her Dad was a world class baker and when they moved here, he opened a bakery and named it after her. When he died, she took over. It's umm.. Delicioso eh?" Sonya winks at me as she tries - but fails - to pull off an Italian accent.
As she pushes open the door to the bakery, a combination of sweet smelling and the fragrance of bread waft over us. I'm 99.9% sure I was not the only person who's mouth was watering!
"Oh Soonya!" A smooth low voice heavily accented with Italian comes from somewhere behind the pristine white counter.
"Hi Chelsea! Having a good day?" Sonya says brightly.
Slowly a head rises from behind the counter. Judging by the amount of wrinkles on her doughy face, Chelsea wasn't exactly young. Her white hair was pulled back into a tight bun at the back of her head. As she shuffled around, tidying up her displays, I could now see that she was wearing a red dress with little white buttons down the front decorated with white lace on either side. Tied at the waist was a barely white apron, covered in flour and sugar and different kinds of batter. The dress and apron made her look adorably grandmotherly. What the outfit did not do was hide the fact that she was like a little red and white Christmas ornament.. Very round.
"Oh Soonya! I see you bring friends?" Chelsea gave a wide grin that covered most of her face. Her smile even reached her bright blue eyes, making them sparkle with delight.
"Yup! She's new here.. Part of the family that moved into the Tamber mansion. Her names Talia!" Sonya explains. But when Sonya mentions my family name, Chelsea put a hand to her heart and bears a startled expression.
"Tamber?.. You are Tamber?" Chelsea looks at me and I can see the uneasiness flicker in her eyes.
"Ermm.. Yah?" I look at Sonya for help, only to see that she looks just about as confused as I feel.
What's wrong with being me? What's wrong with my family?
