Will runs a hand through his spikes of dirty blond hair, making it even more messy.
"Oh um.. My name's Talia, I just moved here."
Hmm.. Ok I'll admit it. Will was kinda cute. As in hot. As in that try-hard, popular guy, mimicking-the-wind-swept-hair hairstyle and the 100 dollar t-shirt style. To be completely honest, I've never really been attracted to those type of guys, the ones that manage to have girls falling over them because of a flash of their crooked smile or a slight wink. It just seems so superficial to me. Besides, I think I would get pretty jealous if my boyfriend always had girls drooling all over him..
"Uh, cool hair.." Right. I guess guys who spend hour on meticulous hour making sure their stiff waves of over gelled look absolutely perfect would notice a girl's new hair. Maybe. But you gotta admit, it's kinda sad. Just a bit.
I twist a lock of newly colored purple hair around my finger, still not used to the fact that part of my hair is colored anything but brown.
"Yeahh.. It's new.. Sorry that's obvious." I gesture wildly to the hairsalon and I can feel my face turn a painful shade of red.
"Haha it looks good! Do you normally dye your hair my favorite colors?" Will grins at me, that certain smile that would normally melt the heart of any girl.
Normally.
"Aha.. Isn't purple kinda.. You know.. A girl color?" I almost winced as the words came out of my mouth. Great. Only one minute into a conversation with the first friendly guy I've met here andI've already insulted him! That's gotta be some kind of record!
"I'll have you know, many people are working on making colors genderless!" Will grins at me to show he wasn't in the least offended. Whew.
"Haha.. Umm.." I laugh nervously. I feel someone tug at my jacket and am almost relieved to find Connie staring up at me impatiently.
" 'Lia! Mum told me to wait by the-" She looks over at Will, and her eyes widen. "And who are you?" Connie smiles coyly and I fight the urge to burst out laughing at her (failed) attempt at flirting.
"Ermm I'm Will?" Will shoots me a help me look. Not that I can blame him. It probably isn't normal for him to be hit on by little girls.
"We should probably go. I guess I'll see you at school? Bye Will.." I shrug my shoulder and push Connie in the direction of Mom's car.
"Bye Will! I hope I'll see you soon!" Connie tries to wink but just ends up awkwardly squinting her eyes.
"Bye? See you around, Talia!" He waves us goodbye.
