"Is it a hug?" I smiled, "because I could really use that,"
"I'd say that manageable," he smiled and leaded down to give me a hug and give me a quick kiss on the cheek. "Now would you like to see what I actually brought for you,"
"Sure," I smiled and he picked up the box he had set at the foot at the end of my bed.
"Um, Louis would you mind um..." Harry glanced sideways at his friend.
"Hey no problem, mate. Just, no sex on the hospital bed," Louis smiled and winked at the two of us before walking out the door.
"Okay," Harry grinned a bit looking at me, "this deserves a bit of an introduction,"
"Alright," I replied uncertainly.
"So after you moved away..." He started.
"Do we really have to..." I interrupted.
"It'll be worth it," he smiled, "trust me,"
"Carry on," I laughed.
"I think I'll get comfortable first," he smiled playfully.
"Aw, come on. Please just tell me," I said, "I'm in the damn hospital,"
"Hm, I guess you're right," he sighed in fake defeat, "now scoot over. If my love is in the hospital I need to be by her side at all times,"
I love this boy more than anyone in the word. Except maybe my mom...we'll see
"Alright," he said as he snuggled himself close to me on my single-sized hospital bed. "So as I was saying, after you left I started getting letters from you," he said softly, "don't interrupt," he added almost reading my mind. "Every letter I got brightened my day, but I never answered. Whenever my mom asked me, I just told her that I didn't know what to say, but that was a lie. I knew exactly what I I wanted to say, but I knew I couldn't say it. All things I wanted to say and the things I tried to write to you I just couldn't do since you were gone," he looked over at me.
"I don't quite understand," I stuttered a bit.
"That's why brought this box," he lifted the lid of the top and pulled out a piece of paper then handed it to me, "this is the first one,"
I looked down at a sheet of basic lined notebook paper. The side was fringed from tearing it out of a notebook and the pencil used to write was faded, but still legible.
Dear Kat,
That sounds awfully formal, but that's the way letters are supposed to start. Kat, you're amazing, and I feel like sometimes you don't know how amazing you are and everything you deserve out of life. Whoever is being mean to you is an idiot because you are the most wonderful and most beautiful girl I have ever met in my entire life. I love you Kat, and not in the way we say "I love you" after arguments, or to tell each other we're best friends. I love you the way that I want to spend every waking minute of every day with you. And this is absolutely crazy because we're just kids, but it's true. I don't even know what I've been doing. My friendship with you is the most meaningful relationship I've had in my entire life, but I didn't realize how I felt until you were a speck way down on the road. I love you, Kat.
Love, Harry
Tears threatened to well up in my eyes as I looked up at Harry. "Harry," my voice cracked as I said his name, "why didn't you send this letter?"
He wrapped his arm around me so I could rest my head on his shoulder. "It would've only made getting used to your new home more difficult for you. Knowing that there's a boy in love with you back at home probably doesn't do much to help you move on. You'd just keep dwelling on your life back in Holmes Chapel would stop you from moving on with your life, so after that letter, I kept writing to you to keep myself sane, but I never sent them. I think I lost a few, but they're mostly all here, and since they're all addressed to you, I thought you should have them,"
