Trigger warning
"Gerard, please eat it." Frank begged his best friend.
"No." Gerard stated, simply. Frank sighed and took the piece of cake he specially made for Gerard.
"It tastes good," Frank softly smiled at Gerard while he took a small piece of cake between his teeth. "See."
"I don't care, I'm not eating it." Gerard said, quietly, trying to hold back the tears that were already forming.
Gerard and Frank have been friends since God knows when. Frank started to notice his friend reject food a lot lately and he's trying to help. They were both sitting in Gerard's kitchen, while his parents were out on business trips.
"Gerard..." Frank said, sadly.
"I'm sorry," Gerard quickly got up and ran to his room. A few moments later, Frank heard the door slam shut.
He sighed and rested his hands in his head.
"Frank?" Mikey walked up to his brother's friend. Frank looked up at Gerard's little brother with sad eyes. "What's wrong with Gee?"
"Oh Mikey, it's bad..." Frank confessed.
Mikey was only four years younger than Gerard which made him twelve and Frank was a year younger than Gerard.
Mikey walked over to Frank and sat in Gerard's seat.
"Tell me?"
"He's not eating anymore, Mikes."
The twelve year old's eyes slightly widened and he looked at the cake.
"Did you make that?" He pointed towards the cake and Frank nodded. "I'll be back." Mikey grabbed the plate of cake and the fork. He walked to Gerard's room and Frank quietly followed.
Mikey softly knocked on his brother's door. "Gee?"
"Go away, please." Gerard said, almost inaudibly.
"Gerard, please open up," Mikey begged and knocked once more.
Frank stood back, with tears in his eyes. He loved Gerard and all he wanted was for him to be happy and healthy. He didn't just love Gerard as a friend, but as something more. Even Mikey knew this. They were friends before Frank knew about Gerard. Mikey thought it was a little odd that an eight year old and an eleven year old were friends, so Mikey introduced his brother to his friend. Gerard has never been more grateful for his little brother, because now, he has a caring best friend who he loves dearly.
Yes, Gerard loves Frank, too. He loved him just like Frank loves Gerard. Mikey knows this too, but his older brother made him promise not to tell. So, his younger brother stayed loyal to Gerard and kept his promise.
Gerard got up from his corner in his room and unlocked his door. He didn't open it though and he knew Mikey wouldn't open it without his older brother's consent. But Gerard knew Frank would barge in without any consent, and that's what he loves about him.
Frank heard the click of the lock and pushed pass Mikey. He opened the door and sighed when he saw it was pitch black in the room. He flipped on the light and saw Gerard lying on his bed with his back facing the door.
"I got it," Frank whispered to Mikey who just nodded and left. Frank closed the door and turned the light back off before he climbed into the bed with his best friend. He held Gerard close to his chest and played with his jet-black hair. "Why?"
"Because," Gerard sniffed and turned so he was facing Frank. They couldn't see each other, but Frank knew Gerard's eyes were closed.
"Gee, please, let me in."
"I don't like myself," Gerard cried and buried his head in Frank's neck.
"I like you..." Frank quietly confessed. Gerard sniffed again and wiped away his tears.
"Why?" He asked, being just as quiet as Frank was.
"Gosh, I like you a lot, Gee."
"But why?"
"You're the best. You can draw, sing, play piano and you're just... beautiful. And I can't believe you can't see that, because I see it everyday. You're always there for me when I needed you the most. Especially when my mom wasn't able to take me to the Green Day concert, you remember that?"
"Yeah, you didn't stop crying for like... two hours, right?" Gerard giggled and Frank nodded, smiling at the memory.
"I was so sad, but you were there to cheer me up. You remember what we did that night?"
"We stayed up until eight in the morning listening to most of their albums." Gerard smiled.
"We didn't stop dancing and singing."
"We were so lucky Mikey and my parents were out of the states."
"They would've killed us." Frank laughed and Gerard snuggled closer to his friend.
They both wanted to confess their feelings for each other so badly at the moment. It felt like the right moment to say what they need to say, but they can't. The words aren't coming out and they'll regret not saying anything.
Luckily, Frank got enough courage to say something.
"I love you so much, Gee." He hugged the older boy. Gerard let out a few tears before he replied.
"I love you too, Frankie."
"Can you please do something for me?" Frank asked and the other nodded. "Eat dinner with me and Mikes?"
Gerard kept quiet for a few seconds before he sighed and nodded again.
"Thank you so much," Frank kissed Gerard's head and held him tighter.
~~~
"This tastes like shit." Gerard scrunched up his face.
"It's pizza!" Mikey threw his hand that wasn't holding his plate in the air.
The three boys were currently in the living room, watching a movie and eating pizza. Cheese pizza for Frank, and pepperoni for the other two. Mikey was on the other side of the couch while the two best friends were somewhat cuddling on the remaining side.
"It's soggy!" Gerard whined.
"Do you want mine?" Frank offered.
"No, I'm not hungry anyways." Gerard put his half eaten pizza on the coffee table in front of them and laid his head on Frank's shoulder.
Mikey and Frank gave each other a look before they turned back to the television.
"Here..." Frank held his piece of pizza close to Gerard's mouth. The older one sighed before he took a small bite of it, which made Frank smile because usually Gerard would've thrown a fit.
So, that's how their night was spent; Frank feeding Gerard his pizza while they watched a movie. But by the time the movie ended, Gerard was laying in Frank's lap with his eyes closed as the latter watched the credits scroll on the television.
Mikey was already in his room, most likely sleeping, so Frank thought it was a good time to bring his best friend to bed. He lifted Gerard's head and put a pillow in his place. Frank quickly cleaned up, turned off the TV and easily picked up the skinny teenager. He walked to Gerard's room and gently laid him on his bed, which Gerard was happy with because once he was put down, he snuggled up with his pillow. Frank quietly laughed and took off his clothes, only leaving his boxers on.
He was happy Gerard was already in his pj's because he didn't think he had the energy to change his clothes. Frank then climbed into bed with the other one and wrapped his arm around Gerard's waist.
The older boy smiled.
He was never asleep, but Frank didn't know that. Frank also didn't know that Gerard heard the quiet 'I love you' and the soft peck on the lips.
