Kai plopped down beside Alex on the scarlet and gold carpet. She crossed her legs and tugged the heavy bottles of firewhiskey out of her bag. Alex grinned at all of them, looking comfortable in a simple sports bra and sweats. Kai shrugged on her baggy Ravenclaw Quidditch sweater from her bag and smiled warmly at her friend. She hoped it would be a good birthday for her.

"Alrighty ladies, let's get started." Lily chirped, pulling a few snacks from her bag. "Kaira, did you grab the food?"

Kai clenched her eyes shut and groaned, smacking a hand on her forehead. "That's what I forgot, I'll be back in a jiffy just a sec."

She got onto her feet swiftly and patted Alex's shoulder as she left the dorm room. Kai ran down the stairs, still not accustomed to the warm glow of the Gryffindor common room. She entered the main room and glanced quickly at the scarlet sofa. A student rested comfortably on the end.

"Hey Kaira," she recognized the voice of Remus. She turned to him and smiled apologetically.

"Sorry for abandoning you today near the kitchens..." she murmured, shrugging her hands into the large sleeves of her jumper. He smiled acceptingly and stood from the armchair.

"It's okay," he replied and moved towards her. She stood there hesitantly. "So um, I was wondering if you wanted to--"

"Listen," Kai interrupted with a small frown. "I really need to get some stuff for Alex. Is there any possibility it is something you can tell me later?"

"Oh, uh, of course." he frowned and stuffed his hands in his pockets. "Whatever works for you."

She looked at him for a moment before turning back towards the common room entrance. Kai began walking away when she suddenly jumped and ran to Remus, gripping his shoulders gently. Remus looked down at her as he ignored the fluttering of his stomach.

"I almost forgot!" Remus almost grinned when she yelled it out, it was the loudest he had ever heard her speak. "What's the password for the entrance? I'm used to riddles and the Fat Lady doesn't like me very much."

"House pride," he laughed and shrugged her hands off his shoulders. He wasn't sure he liked the butterflies in his stomach. "I'm sure she likes you, it's just that you're from a different house."

"Yeah, that's probably it." she stepped away from him and Remus found that he didn't enjoy the large distance between the blonde Ravenclaw and his own body. "Thanks Remus."

"No problem." But she was already gone.

Kai snuck through the dark halls, well aware that she could get a week's worth of detentions for being out after curfew. Footsteps in the hall to her left alerted her and she tucked herself behind a statue. Out of the small opening between the statue and the wall, she stared impatiently at the dim corridor.

Kai heard rushed whispers from the middle of the hall, though she could see no one. Suddenly, a hand appeared from thin air and she gasped rather loudly before clapping a hand over her mouth as to further prevent any noises from escaping her mouth.

"Who the bloody hell was that?" A whisper came from her right. Kai tried to hold her breath, hoping she wouldn't be caught. Just imagine, she was doing all this for some snacks.

"Bloody hell Prongs, it's Nighy!" Was that Sirius Black?

"Isn't that the one Remus always moons over?" Kai closed her eyes and frowned. She knew that would happen.

Whoever sounded like Sirius snorted. "Nice one Prongsy, moons."

"Alright enough of this nonsense," 'Prongs' replied. "Come on out Kaira, it's just us."
