Aria's POV
I take a deep breath when I finally spot a town. Not the one I've been looking for but at least it's somewhere to stop for awhile. "Finally," I breath. Jay squeezes my hand and gives me a soft kiss on the lips.
"Ready to go, Button?" He murmurs.
I nod and continue walking.
It's not that far and as soon as we reach the safety of houses and buildings everyone dispatches. Jay and I find ourselves in a small, two story house that looks to be owned by some kind of scientist and a teacher, judging by the books strewn across the desk and, on a neater desk, papers. I pick one up and study it. It has 'Subject 2N' written across the top in delicate writing. 'Subject is unresponsive to all noise and light. Subject has turned rabid. Skin started to peel and die around the injection. Subjects heartbeat is weak and slow. I don't know how she is still alive. Subject doesn't recognise photos of her children. I think I have developed a formula. Still under testing.' The hand writing gets sloppier as I read on until I can barely make out the words. Underneath is more papers. Some have smudges of blood or rips running down the page. Only one stands out because it is laying on the ground with large smudges of blood and what appears to be bite marks. 'The only way to kill them is the head. I've been bitten. Skin has started to peel and die. My brain gets foggier and foggier eavery secnod. The fmorula is alomst colpmete. I've hidedn it uendr' the writing becomes unrecognisable as it goes on. He has a cure? A small squeak of excitement escapes my lips. I glance around to see if anyone sees but, luckily, I'm alone. I immediately start rummaging through drawers and under papers but I can't find it. It's under something. But what? "Button, you okay in there?" Jay asks, pocking his head inside. I snap to attention and fake a smile.
"Couldn't be better," I say cheerily, hoping he'll go away so I can keep looking.
He grins. "Someones happy," He teases.
"Yep. Now I'm going to keep checking this place out." I squeeze past him and decide to search the rest of the house. I look everywhere until I come to a small trap door, hidden under the table. I carefully shift the table, trying desperately not to be heard but that doesn't stop the squeaking of the wooden table on the floor boards, or the grunts of the door as I slowly pry it open. I glance down but it's pitch black. Surely the cure is down there. With one last survey of the small dining room, I drop down. The sound of my feet hitting the ground echoes through the basement. I gingerly walk forward until it's as dark as midnight. Just when I think I'm lost I see a dim light ahead. So, of course, I follow it. I find myself at a metal door where the glow is coming from. I subconsciously place my hand on my gun that is slung across my back, and swing the door open. It's completely silent and lit up by a few lights that dangle limply from the ceiling. Desks surround the walls, all of them are strewn with papers or bottles or some kind of machinery. The floors are smudged with dark red blood that looks as if someone were dragged through. The whole thing looks like something from a horror movie and is enough to send shivers down my spine. I slowly walk to one cluster of bottles. 'Cure 2N' Is labeled on one but it's completely drained. Under. I hesitantly lift it up and find a small vial filled with mauve purple liquid. A smile breaks across my face and I gently lift it up to examine it. Much to my surprise, I find another letter
tapped to the bottom of the empty bottle. It says: 'Dear Rachel,
If you are reading this it means I am dead. I love you so much, my love. I have almost finished the cure but it should work just as well. I have made earrings for you, but these are hollow and made for you to put the remains of the cure inside to keep with you always. They are under my research. I love you, my darling.
-Richard'
Rachel is one lucky girl, but I'm guessing she never saw the note. I gently lay the note back down and start looking for the earrings. I eventually find them under a bunch of terribly written notes. They have small emeralds on them but click open like a locket to reveal a tiny needle syringe. I hold the vial of sticky liquid up to the needle and half of it disappears so I do the same to the other earring. I clip them in and that's when I hear the low groans. I swing around and my gun is instantly in my hands. I survey the room but don't see anything. Then I hear a loud smash and see them. Two Flesh Eaters. I think one is a man and one is a woman. They come stumbling towards me but are surprisingly fast. I duck just as one swings at my head. I go to ready my gun but the man is already right in front of me so I give up and instead grab my dagger from my belt. I swing at the mans arm, creating a large gash but it doesn't seem to matter. I feel a sting on my shoulder and see the female, clawing at me. I swing around and throw an elbow into her face then swipe the mans legs. I bolt upright as soon as they're down and dash under a bench. My gun lies just meters away, out of my grasp. I go to grab it but the man is immediately gripping onto my arm. He digs his teeth into my skin, drawing blood and making me cry out in my pain. It burns and throbs all at once, making it almost unbearable. I throw my fist into his face and he hisses, backing away. I skid across the floor, finally clutching my gun and raise it. I swiftly send a bullet straight through the mans head and he falls to the ground, then I look around for the woman. There's a fiery pain on the back on my head so I fly around, smashing the end on my gun into her face. She screeches and backs away so I send a bullet into her brain as well. As soon as they're both down I sit, with my back on the wall and take a few deep breaths before taking in my wounds. I have a few deep scratch marks on my shoulder with a pit of dried blood and a dull ache. I hesitantly press my fingers to my head, when I pull them away my hand is deep red and sticky. I groan and finally settle on my arm, the spot I've been trying to avoid. The skin around it is already pale and dead, some pieces are falling off in flakes, and it is still bleeding freely. The throbbing is still there with a dull sting. Then I remember the earrings. I quickly take one off, open it, and gingerly press the tiny syringe into my decaying skin. There's a small prick and the relief is immediate. I sigh and clip my earring back. I tear off the bottom of my shirt and wound it around the deep gash of teeth marks to try and stop the bleeding. After a few minutes I decide to get up. I gradually make it back up the small ladder and into the familiar kitchen. I'm instantly swarmed by Jay. His eyes are big, worried, and alarmed. "Hey," I breath and I settle on the floor.
"What happened?" He exclaims, helping me from the floor.
"Flesh Eaters," I manage a wry grin but only get a glare in return. "But I got the cure," I offer with as much enthusiasm as I can muster.
"You... what?" He asks, shocked.
I laugh. "Not much but it saved my ass."
He shakes his head and grins. "What am I going to do with you."
I lean up and give him a peck on the cheek. "You love me."
He does an over exaggerated sigh. "True."

Yo readers!
Do you guys like long chapters or short chapters? Because I don't know how long a short or a long chapter is...
Thanks for reading this far and I'm sorry for any mistakes (I suck)
Please tell me what you think! I love hearing from you and want to know what you do and don't like so I can improve.
P.S. I'm gonna keep track of how many people each group has in my lil A/N's.
Aria- 30
Celia- 30
(The same at the moment)
P.P.S. I'm sorry for any confusion because I, myself, just got REALLY confused when reading through and seeing how many are alive. It said she had recruited only twelve people but when I did the maths it said otherwise so I'm really confused. Also sorry if it doesn't add up but, like I said, I'm confused XD
Once again, comment and vote and I love you xxx
