When I finally woke up, I realized that I needed to start finding the apple as soon as I could.
If it meant I would miss Charms, so be it.
If it meant I would miss Transfiguration, I would gladly miss Transfiguration.
Hell, if it meant missing all my classes for a week, I would miss all my damn classes for a week.
Though my love had only been missing for a day, I wasn't complete without feeling its smooth surface in my pocket whenever I placed my hand in. I missed it more terribly. I felt like crying whenever I saw something green. I never knew you could care about someone more than yourself. But I did. For this apple. I guess I'm just the most selfless person to ever live.
And finally, after a week of skipping classes and angry letters from Mother and Father, I found it.
Found it with a loathsome Ravenclaw.
I got there right in time to hit the apple from her hand.
"How dare you?" I yelled. "How dare you break into my room? How dare you steal this apple?"
"I didn't steal it," the liar replied, glancing in confusion to her friends. They all shrugged.
I grabbed the front of her robes and dragged her up so she was at eye-level to me. "Don't. You. Lie. To. Me," I spat.
"Calm down, man," the Ravenclaw said in alarm. "I didn't steal your apple. I'd suggest you go look for some gun though, your breath reeks."
"Your face reeks," I said. "But, fine, I understand why you would steal my apple. She is stunning and has such a good personality. Since I am fair, I challenge you to a duel. Right here. Right now."
The first year shrugged again and said, "Okay."
"One-on-one. Your friends cannot help you."
"Yeah, yeah. Let's get to it."
I walked ten steps away and turned towards my opponent. She was idly chatting to her friends, spinning her wand. I though to myself, This will be a piece of cake.
But it wasn't. This girl was a monster.
"On three?" she called.
I nodded. "One," I said.
"Two," she added.
"Three!" I cried, trying to think back to last year. What had been the curse Lockhart had tried to put on Snape? The one that made the other wizard's wand fly out of their hand?
With no warning, the girl shouted, "Expelliarmus!" and my wand shot out of my hand. She caught it neatly and then added "Stupefy."
I was thrown into the air and landed on the ground. As I managed to stand, I saw the girl bite into the apple.
"No!" I screamed. No one even glanced at me.
