Double the fun

Chapter 8

"Hey want to go to the park?" Finn asked as we made our way to his car.

I laughed, "You're being offly nice today, you seem to be trying too hard to make me happy."

"Well SORRY for caring" he said sarcastically.

I smiled, "I'd love to go to the park with you."

He stuck his elbow out to me, "I have to hold you like a real gentleman."

I looped my arm with his as we walked across the street to the nearby park. There were children with their parents, owners with their dogs, and couples walking around together. There was one couple in particular that Finn would not take his eyes off. I looked at the girl he was staring at, she was blonde and beautiful.

"Is she your ex?" I asked.

He blushed as if now realizing that he had been staring. He awkwardly coughed, "Yeah."

She saw us looking at her and kissed the guy that she was with. No kissed is an understatement, she practically sucked his face off. Finn looked completely broken so I intertwined our fingers and leaned my head on his shoulder. I felt his lips brush the top of my head so I blushed as I looked up at him.

He wrapped his arms around me and whispered in my ear "Thanks for caring."

I smiled up at him as I placed my hands on his chest, "That's what I'm here for." Out of the corner of my eye I saw his ex literally stomp away from the guy that she was with, who looked confused at what had just happened. I laughed, "She probably thinks that I'm your new girlfriend."

Finn dropped one of his arms from around me but left one wrapped around my waist, "She can think whatever she wants, I don't care anymore."

We sat under a tree in silence just taking in the tranquility. Finn still had his arm around my waist but I didn't mind, it actually felt nice. I had gotten into a more comfortable position so I placed my head on his shoulder. Finn took out his phone and I could see that he had received a notification. It was a picture from Jack with him and a girl smiling at the camera. There was a message with it that said "We're back together!"

"Who's that?" I asked looking at Jack from underneath my eyelids.

"That was Jack's ex but now they're back together. I'm sorry" he said as he tightened his arm around me.

I pat his stomach, "It's okay, for some reason it doesn't bother me."

Finn lifted up my chin and looked me straight in the eyes, "Would it bother you if I got back together with my ex?"
