Kylie's POV
I woke up to the usual way; the sound of my alarm clock.
I sat up and stretched, trying to resist the urge to lay back down.
As a distraction, I stood up and chose and outfit to wear; a purple shirt and white high-waisted shorts.
After picking what outfit to wear, I went to the bathroom to take a bath, brush my teeth, then I went down to wait for Claire's car.
"Hey, Ky." My brother, Sam startled me.
"What the fuck Sam!" I annoyingly yelled at him. "Why do you keep doing that?!" Irritation clear in my voice.
"It's fun you know." His annoying smirk plastered on his annoying face.
"Whatever." I replied, sticking my tongue out at him and he chuckled.
I was about to ask him when I heard a car pull up.
I went to the door and opened it and saw Claire's car.
"Hey!" She greets me.
I turn around to see that my brother was behind me, his eyes focused on her.
"She's taken. Your loss," I mock him. "Anyway, I gotta go now. See ya later!" I said, waving my hands at him while walking to Claire's car.
As I got in, I noticed Claire was kind of distant and quiet, different from earlier.
"Is something wrong?" I asked.
She seemed to hesitate for a moment then she spoke up.
"Don't interrupt okay? Even you have questions, just don't interrupt okay?" She looked at me for reassurance and I just nod.
"Okay. Here we go," she paused for a moment to take a deep breath.
"I know your gonna be upset about this again, but really, why don't you have a boyfriend yet? You're bloody 16 already! If you can't tell me for some reason, then please tell me why. Don't you trust me? If I'm really your best friend, you wouldn't be afraid to tell me the truth. We've known each other for year, Kylie. And I never lied to you. Well, except when I ate your cookies then blamed I blamed it on your dog."
She finished her rant with a joke at the end to make me more comfortable.
Here we go again..
Why can't she understand that I want privacy?
If I'm really your best friend, you wouldn't be afraid to tell me the truth.
Her words replay in my head again and again.
Should I tell her or not? My mind debates.
Fine, fine. I'll tell her.
"I don't have the time to date boys, Claire." I blurt out.
Surely, my answer caught her off guard because she suddenly stepped on the brakes and exclaimed, "What?!"
I gave her a questioning look.
"What do you mean you don't have the time? You always hang out with me and the group and you say you don't have the time? Maybe if you stopped hanging out with us and create a space for your "love life", she made those air quotes with her hands, " you would have a boyfriend by now! I'm so telling Jenny so we could set you up on a blind date!" She squealed.
"B-blind date?" I choked and she nodded.
"You totally need a boyfriend, Kylie! Stop hanging with us for a while and get yourself a lover boy," she winked and I roll my eyes in return.
