It was my first day as an intern at SNL. I sat in the waiting area, I couldn't remember the last time i'd been this nervous. I look around, I just can't believe i've been lucky enough to get such a wonderful opportunity. I'm so absorbed in my own thoughts that I didn't even realise i'd began gnawing on my fingernails again. I instantly stop myself, looking around sheepishly and hoping that no one saw that. They're probably all looking at me anyway wondering what a socially awkward 20 year old is doing here. My home in London is so far away and I really do miss it, but once I found out I had gotten such an amazing opportunity - how could I resist? My thoughts are interrupted by a female voice calling my name: "Miss Wilson? Emilia Wilson?" I stood up sharply, took a deep breath and walked over to introduce myself. "I'm Emilia, it's nice to meet you" I said with a slight quiver in my voice, I hoped the nerves would disappear soon. She looked me up and down, a force smile appeared on her face. "Mmm, follow me please" she mumbled. I proceeded to follow her, shuffling along trying to keep up. I was trying to make a good, professional impression with wearing heels but damn this was a mistake.
