We take a short elevator ride to the 11th floor where most of the offices are. We stop at floor 7 when suddenly Aidy Bryant gets in - my comedy hero. She smiles politely at me and then began conversing with the less than enthusiastic lady who is showing me around. "So, Lillian, how's things going?" Aidy asks. Lillian, must make a mental not of that. Maybe she would warm to me if I made a real effort and remembering her name would definitely being a start. Short pleasantries were passed between them as the elevator made it's way to our stop. The three of us got out and exchanged goodbye's before going separate ways. "So, this is the 11th floor and where the main excitement happens around here. You've got all the writers and actors offices, it's a pretty creative floor!" I laugh nervously, she seems kind - I think I judged her to harshly. "So, as an intern you'll be assigned a cast member to shadow. It may be the same one throughout the year or you'll be passed around - we'll see how things go" I nod politely but i'm more interested in what's going on around me. The place is buzzing with energy - people writing, on the phone, having meetings..."Okay so this is where I leave you to meet the lucky cast member you're shadowing" She knocks on an office door and after a few seconds it opens - "Hi! You must be Emilia, I'm Kate"
I couldn't believe it, this wasn't happening to me...it was THE Kate McKinnon.
