I told my friend Alisha about my encounter with Alex and she instantly said "Date him."

"What? Are you mental? No!"

"Why not! You would actually be such a good couple like you're! so alike"

"I don't care! I barely know the chap!"

"Fair enough, just ask Angie."

Angie was Alex's ex. They had dated on and off for months on end before she finally ended it because he told her to calm down when she was mad at him. I was in school one day and I was asked if I'd go out with him to which I had obviously replied no to. Turns out he wouldn't have minded, who would've known that weeks later I'd develop a massive crush on him, haha.

I was at Alisha's house and Angie and her friend Gillian were there too. We ended up talking about Alex and his and Angie's relationship. She mentioned everything she had loved about him and I had already caught feelings for him there and then, come to think of it, I kinda developed a little thing for him when I was asked to go out with him - oops. I asked her one question that I already knew the answer to.

"You still like him, don't you?"

".....Noooo...."

Judging by the tone in her voice, she meant yes.

We went mental, me especially. We knew he never got over her so we dragged her out of the house and walked over to his house. She kept telling us she didn't want a relationship but she was blatantly lying through her teeth. We were all silent outside his house for about ten minutes then she took out her phone and texted him; "Go to your window". Two minutes later he appeared and said in a loud whisper

"What are yous doing here?" A loud whisper considering it was ten o'clock at night.

Angie opened her mouth to say it and the ran, I grabbed her arm and pulled her back.

"Tell him." all three of us said in unison.

I could see he knew exactly what she was going to say - he had the biggest smile I had ever seen on his face, he knew exactly what was about to happen because, I mean why else would a crowd of four teenage girls - one of them being your ex - show up at your house at ten o'clock at night?

His mother walked into his room and told him to feck back to sleep because he was keeping the whole house up.

She called him.

"Hey, so what do you need to tell me?"

"Well eh...em..." she kept muttering

"Ang, just tell him for fuck sake!" I shouted

"I still like you!" she shouted into the phone

We were silent for a few minutes. Looking up at his window and back at Angie with the upmost enthusiasm in our eyes.

"Wow....wow...so....wow....do I ask the question then?" he asked.

"I don't know.." she answered

"Should I?" he asked again

"I don't know.."

"...Will you?"

She was silent. "..maybe....yes...yeah."

We cheered and we saw Alex appear at his window and smile down at us, you could tell just how happy she made him.

Once Angie and Gillian went home, I had to tell Alisha exactly what I just did, she was my best friend so I couldn't just not tell her. I mean, Alex and I have been compared since I was ten and he was eleven, I went through primary school being told "Hey, you remind me so much of Alex!" so apparently we were really alike in a lot of ways, and we did get along really well and had great banter. Once I told her, she freaked out.

"Why the fuck Aly! Fucking why now of all times?"

"It's not my fault! You persuaded me!"

"That was Angie!"

"You did it too! With your stories about him and her, how happy they were together, and the flipagram you made with that song! You just had to go that extra mile."

She was silent because I had made a fair point.

"Well if you like him so much now then why did you make them get back together?" she asked with that attitude that really used to piss me off. I look at her with my 'what-the-fuck-did-you-just-say-bitch' look.

"Because...When you see two people that happy together, you can't help but feel happy seeing them like that around each other. And I don't want to come in the way of that for two people if they're given that opportunity just because I like him. I also thought it would stop me liking him but...it didn't."

We were silent for the remainder of the night.

A few days later in school, we went up to Alex at lunch and started chatting.

"Hey, why aren't you with Angie? Is she in?" Alisha asks.

"Eh, yeh she's in I jus dunno where she is. She's not really talking to me much." he says scratching his head.

"Ugh what did you do to her now?" Alisha asks aggressively

"Why do you always blame me! I did fuck all to her, you go fucking talk to her because she won't talk to me and I don't know whats up!"

That put her back in her box. Just as we were going to look for Angie she walked up stairs to us. Alisha pulled her over and told me to tell her.

"Tell me what?" she asked worryingly

Alisha gave me that look and raised her eyebrows.

"Eh...em..aha ha...well-" I stutter

"Do you want me to tell her?!"

"No!....Angie...I like Alex."

"Is that all?" Angie asks laughing through her sentence.

"Eh, yeh." I say sort of confused

"Ahaha grand, I'll sort something out." she says

"Wait...WHAT?" Alisha and I say

"Hold on."

Angie walks over to Alex who is standing by the bars of the stairwell on his own, his friends had left him. She touched his shoulder and he looked at her and smiled, but then she said something and walked downstairs. You could slowly see his smile fade as he processed what she just said. He went to go after her but stopped himself. Alisha ran over to him and he stayed silent and I stayed where I was.

She had just broken up with him, I felt absolutely terrible.
