Chapter 5

Alex's POV

I held Sam's hand as we walked around the park, a comfortable silence between us both. We had already had dinner and made small talk, while I studied her features. After her aunt had a talk with me I was even more curious about Sam's past and her parent's but I didn't want to push her into telling me.

"Who's going to be at the dinner Wednesday?" She asked breaking the silence between us. I glanced over and smiled a bit. "Just my parents." I shrugged. She nodded her head a bit and moved closer to me and linked her arm with mine. "So I never expected to be mates with a girl" She giggled softly. I smiled to myself, looking down. "I was sort of expecting it" I shrugged and looked around. "I mean guys never really caught my attention" I laughed a bit.

I heard her giggle and smiled. I turned to look at her and stopped walking. "You're so beautiful you know that right?" I softly asked and tugged a strand of hair behind her ear gently, which caused her to blush. "No, I'm not" She mumbled and glanced down. I frowned a bit and tilt her head up with the tip of my finger. "And why do you say that?" I asked curiously. "Well, my whole life I was made fun of and told that I wasn't" She replied. I clenched my jaw lightly and shook my head. "And who said that?" I growled under my breath. She sighed and wrapped her arms around my neck. "It doesn't matter." She smiled softly and rubbed the back of my neck her fingers, causing me to relax.

"Well just know that you're one of the most beautiful girls I've ever set eyes on," I said, wrapping my arms around her gently. "I hope you're enjoying this. I really had no idea what to plan," I smiled. She just gave me a small smile and nodded. "I'm having a great time, I like simple and casual" She confirmed before she let go of me, taking my hand and continued to walk. I looked around, and glance over at her after a while. "Your aunt seems like a great person" I nodded my head. "I've seen her around the pack house before. Helping my mom and others," I said. "Yeah. She's studying to be a doctor, only needs to take a test and she's officially one" Sam smiled a bit.

Sam's POV

As we walked around, I couldn't help but feel happy. I looked up at Alex and then down at our intertwined fingers. I smiled a bit to myself, looking forward. "You want to get some ice cream?" Alex asked as she noticed the ice cream truck parked near the entrance of the park. "Yeah, sounds great." I agreed and walked with her towards it. As we waited in the short line, I felt a few eyes on us and glance around to notice a group of guys. I bit my lip and slowly moved my hand away from hers and crossed my arms.

She must have noticed me tense up and looked down at me confused. "What's wrong?" She asked softly. I sighed a bit and shook my head, looking down. "Nothing. I just don't feel comfortable when people stare" I mumbled softly. She raised an eyebrow and looked around and noticed them. She sighed and put her arms around me protectively which caused butterflies in my stomach. "Ignore them," She whispered into my ear, causing me to shiver. "Don't do that please," I blushed and looked down. She smirked a bit and kissed my cheek. "Why?" She laughed, shaking her head. "If it's going to make you blush I'll do it anytime I want" She smiled.

I shook my head and stepped up when it was our turn. "What can I get you, ladies?" The guy in the truck asked with a friendly smile. "I'll take a vanilla bar please" Alex smiled, looking at me. "Fudge bar please" I nodded. He went to the fridges and got them and hands them to us. "Here you go. That would be 4 dollars" He said, and I was about to pull my wallet out, but Alex handed him a 5 and told him to keep the change. As we walked off, I sighed and looked up at her. "I could have paid. You paid for dinner," I said. She smiled and opened her ice cream. "I invited. So I pay" She chuckled.

"Fine. But for the second date, I'm paying" I said seriously. Alex raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Wow, we haven't even finished our first date and already talking about the second? I must be doing a good job then" She teased me. I blushed and rolled my eyes as I opened my ice cream and began to eat it. "Well, considering we are mates I was kinda hoping we would unless you're considering rejecting me," I said and bit my lip. "Oh no. Don't think you're getting rid of me that easily." She laughed and smiled. I glance up at her, smiling a bit and kept licking my fudge bar.

"You do realize I'm not going to reject you right?" She asked, pulling me to a nearby bench and sat down with me. I shrugged a bit and looked down. "You could always change your mind," I respond. "I could... but only if I'm stupid. And I think I'm pretty smart " I smiled softly as I heard her say that and looked back up at her. "I think I would go crazy if I were to reject you. We've only known each other for 2 whole days, and Allison is already madly crazy over Blake," She laughed softly. I smiled a bit and looked down, blushing a bit. "When do I get to meet Allison?" I bit my lip softly. "Whenever you would like. I would love to meet Blake as well" I nodded my head and smiled.

When we finished with our ice cream, we threw away our trash and headed to her car. "Hey, cuties," One of the guys that were watching us earlier smirked as he walked over with his friends. I bit my lip softly and looked down, slightly hiding behind Alex. She looked at them and shook her head a bit. "What the hell do you guys want?" She asked, stepping in front of me to block their view of me. "Nothing. Just wanted to come and see if you girls wanted to maybe go and have some fun back at my place." He smirked.

She scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Yeah, no thanks. We're good," She replied and unlocked the car door and opened it for me. I quickly got in and looked down, buckling up. As she closed the door, he grabbed her by the arm and turned her around. "Oh come on baby," He said and pulled her close. Blake instantly growled, causing me to grip the seat a bit as I watched. Alex immediately took his arm and twisted it behind his back and pushed him up against the car. "Fuck off unless you want me to break it," She muttered near his ear roughly and pushed his arm up, causing him to cry in pain. She let go and pushed him towards his friends.

"You'll regret that you little bitch!" He said and walked off with his friends, holding onto his arm. She just rolled her eyes and got in the car. "Are you okay?" She asked me as I was still gripping the seat. I took a deep breath and slowly relaxed. "I'm fine. Are you?" I whispered. She smiled a bit and nodded. "Some guys can be total douches," She said, leaning over to kiss my cheek and turned her car on and pulled out, starting to drive home.
