"So what do you do in your free time?"
"Mark papers, eat, watch tv sometimes, read, play with my cat."
"I guess you could say you play with your pussy during your free time?" I looked at her with confusion. Play with my pussy? My eyes went wide. "Aviana! That was so inappropriate!" Her loud laugh filled the car and I couldn't help but crack a smile. Aviana's focus was on the road driving us to a cafe for lunch. I was still upset with her but her laugh and playful behaviour made me ease. "Where are we going to eat?" As I asked the question we pulled into a parking lot. I could see a cute cafe with flower beds. Despite how it cold it's been lately, some flowers were still in bloom. The trees were various shades of yellow, red, and brown. We walked and took a seat at a table. "Well, this is a cosy cafe."
Aviana opened the menu and placed it in front of me. "It's my favourite to go to on the weekends. I've been here so much that I've practically memorised the menu." I looked down to read the menu and my mouth watered. There were all these pastries, sandwiches, muffins, and other baked goods. I'm not going to lie, I wanted to eat them all. "Choose whatever you want, nothing is off limits." My eyes narrowed in on her face. Was this a prank? Was she going to force me to pay her back when I least expect it? "What is it?" She must've seen my scowl. Duh, of course, she did, it's not hard to miss. "What's the catch?"
"There's no catch. This is my way of showing that I'm sorry for hurting your feelings and being an honest to god douchebag towards you earlier when... You know... When I was towering over you." Blush spread across my cheeks and I looked back at the menu. "I'm going to have the cheese bagel with a strawberry and banana smoothie, please and thank you."
The atmosphere was tense. Or maybe it was just me making it this way. 30 minutes passed and our food finally arrived. "I think we need to talk," I began. Aviana looked at me expectantly, and I tried to find the right words to say. "How about I start?" My heart slightly moved as she took control. She seemed to understand that I was having difficulty trying to put together what I wanted to say. I don't think we could ever spend time together again. We were too different to be friends, we would get into so many arguments and end up loathing each other, even more than I do now. But do I really hate her? I hate what she did earlier but that doesn't mean I hate every single thing about her. Maybe Aviana's carefree attitude was compatible with my over-achieving and bitter personality. If we spent more time with each other we could find ways to balance each other out.
"Lacey, are you listening? What's on your mind?" Oh shit, I forgot she hates it when I don't listen."I'm sorry for zoning out, but I thought of what I wanted to say. I'm sorry for freaking out on you earlier today. You're right, I did ask you to tell me everything that happened last night. It was my fault. I've never met someone like you before, you have no filter and I can get used to that, I hope. I don't think I'll go home after lunch today because I want to understand you better. I'm awkward, closed off, different, uptight, and shy. I want you to understand that I do get embarrassed and I do get angry. So if... Whatever we are, is going to work, you need to be patient with me warming up to you." Aviana put my hands in hers. "I couldn't be happier hearing you say that. I'll try my best to make you not hate me, I promise." That was easier than I thought. "But, what do you mean by 'whatever we are'?" What did I mean by that? Sure I've checked her out a couple of times, not to mention the god damn sex dream I had with her. But I can't tell her that I want to be anything more than friends, not yet anyway. "I mean friends, silly!" A sly smirk crossed her face. "For now, maybe."
"Wait, what?" "It's nothing, don't worry about it." We didn't say anything after that. We ate our meal and left to go to another destination. "Where are we going?" I asked as we left the parking lot. "We're going to get you underwear." My face paled. "W-what do you mean? I already have underwear!" Aviana snickered. "Sexy panties I mean. Last night you said you didn't own any so today I'm buying you some." I was speechless. My eyebrows furrowed and I was about to bitch her out when suddenly the spoke, "no talking back. I'm doing you an important deed, alright? You're not going to get laid with neutral coloured underwear." "B-but I don't think I'm going to have sex for awhile. No one is interested and I don't have the time-" Aviana placed a finger over my lips while still focusing on driving. "Lacey, what are we doing right at this moment?" "You're invading my personal space?" She scoffed. "No, we're having fun. You're having a day off. You have time for sex if you're having a day off, understand?" I nodded. "I guess so. But if I'm stressing out tomorrow, I'm blaming you. Got it?" Aviana grumbled and rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Say what you want but I'm right."
