Jamie POV

I walked into my cabin and into my room. My wrists were still stinging and were lightly bruising up a bit. I slipped on a thin long sleeve shirt so my parents wouldn’t raise questions. I could hear the TV going so I walked out to the living room.

My father sat asleep in the recliner. My mother was sitting in the make due dining room reading a paper and drinking tea. “Did you just get in Jamie?” She continued to look at the paper as she spoke sternly.

“No, I got in on time last night. I went to breakfast with Harry and he dropped me off before he went to work.” I decided to take a seat beside her. I rubbed my fingers over the small scratches and holes on the cherry wood table.

“Oh?” My mother raised her brows. “You have been spending an awfully lot of time out, and I’m going to assume it was with that boy.” My mother seemed to like Harry, but she didn’t like me going out late so much. Her idea for me was to practice nonstop so I could make it into the Olympics.

It was a crazy idea because I was nowhere near good enough for that. College track is my limit for me. I like doing the extra workouts, but her expectations were too high. “Yes, he is very kind.” I try my best to sound as proper as I can in front of my mother.

She wasn’t so proper herself, but she brought me up this way. “I am taking quite the liking to him myself. You should have him over sometime for dinner. Maybe we will go out to eat or something and see the city. I am growing tired of cooking here.”

My mother was the average house wife. She cooked. Cleaned, and took me to my practices. She owns a bridal shop downtown, but she works from home unless it is an emergency.  “Oh we will be going home at the end of next week. Your father got an important call for a meeting that is crucial for him to attend.” I nodded and stood getting ready to leave for my room.

I was excited but at the same time I was upset. One week left here and that’s the last I’ll see of Harry, ever. I went into my room and changed into running clothes. I haven’t actually run in awhile so I might as well run now. Harry works all day so I’ll be bored the rest of the night.

When I changed I went on the regular route toward town. It felt good to run again like I normally do. I can tell it had been awhile since my legs were stressing the run. I think I overdid it the night I cut Logan off. As I ran into town I noticed Harry’s blue truck sitting in front of the store.

I couldn’t see him inside, but I continued to run. I made it to the outskirts of town before I turned back around again. When I started back I sat down for a second. My father’s car was coming up the road so I quickly stood. He pulled up next to me and rolled the window down.

“Want to go into the city with me? I need to get some new fishing gear for tomorrow.” I nodded and got in. Luckily I kept my hoodie in the car from the last time I drove. I quickly slipped it on as he drove.

We had been in the same store for over an hour and I was already bored. I just wanted to get out of the small town for a bit. “I know kiddo I am bored too. This break isn’t so much of a break when you are doing the same thing every day.” I smiled as I held onto some of the gear he was going to buy.

“I’ll tell ya what, why don’t you take this cash and go look around. Maybe buy some clothes or whatever it is you girls buy.” I took the cash out of his hand not bothering to count it.

As I walked out of the store I looked down the streets to find somewhere interesting to shop.”Food sounds good right now.” I said to myself and started to look for a coffee shop or something. Thankfully there was one on the corner.

I walked in and scanned the area. The line was pretty short so I jumped in before it got any longer. I had already decided what I wanted as the line moved up. As I waited I stared into space just thinking, thinking about Harry.
