Here are some tips to help you get back on track if you're writing and find yourself stuck in the middle of a scene:
Kill someone
Seems harsh, but it could be useful. I'll be going over how to kill a character off the correct way in other chapter. What could go wrong?
Ask this question: "What could possibly go wrong?" and write exactly how it goes wrong.POV
Switch the POV from your current character to another - a minor character, the antagonist, or just anyone. Give the reader a different look on the situation.Stop
Simply stop what you're writing whatever scene you're struggling with and skip to the next one.Ending
Sometimes I already have the ending scene in my head when I start a story. Go ahead and write the ending, you may get some ideas for the middle.Get some help
Use sentence starters, scene prompts, and dialogue prompts to help you get an idea of what you want to happen next.Read
If you're stuck, just simply read. Read someone else's writing to get your creativity jogging.• • •
Hope this helps! The next chapter will be about effectively killing off a character. Stay tuned!
