get to know your character.
basic questions of character creation.

- what would completely break your character?

- what was the best thing in your character's life?

- what was the worst thing in your character's life?

- what seemingly insignificant memories stuck with your character?

- does your character work so they can support their hobbies or use their hobbies as a way of filling up the time they aren't working?

- what is your character secretly afraid of?

- what would your character make a scene in public about?

- how does the image your character tries to project differ from the image they actually project?

- what is your character reluctant to tell people?

- what does your character have no tolerance for?

- what traits does your character have that don't always work in their favor?

- what was your character taught to dislike or disapprove of as a child?

- how does your character feel about things they can't control?

- what does your character want more than anything?

- what trait might be holding your character back?

keep in mind:

Just like you should know the end of the plot from the beginning, you should know who the characters are going to end up as.

Not every character needs to change drastically from start to finish, but for those that do, have a clear image of who they become and how they get there.

The last ten pages isn't the time for a sudden shift in character. Draw it out, don't rush, and let them be true to who they are.
