Chapter 2

** 14 years later **

Scarlet’s POV

“C’mon Mom!” I yelled ushering her to the door.

“I want to get this over with already” I whined.

This would be my last day at Stanford University, then I can finally go to Harvard with Riley.

I see Riley every day as he lives next door to me, but I have been nagging my parents for ages to let me go to college with him because I literally can’t live without him. And not to mention I have the bitchiest friends at Stanford.

I rush Mom to the car and take my almost empty shoulder bag.

She starts the car up and we finally leave.

“Are you excited Scarlet?” she asked stroking my face with her other hand on the steering wheel.

“Hell yeah I am! It’s going to be awesome! I miss Riley already.” I squealed jumping in my seat.

“You only saw that boy 10 minutes ago, how can you possibly miss him already?” she giggled.

“He’s my best friend Mom. I’m meant to miss him”

”I remember those days, when your father and I use to text each other every two seconds because we couldn’t stand being away from each other” she sighed.

“Mom, you still text each other the same as you use to” I said matter of factly rolling my eyes.

About 10 minutes later Mom drops me off out the front of the Roman looking cream college.

I walk through the big white gates and see the sign that seems to torment me every day I come here.

Stanford University, Striving to achieve everything’

What a $hit motto. Who seriously wants to achieve everything? I physically can’t believe that this place has been up for over 100 years. I’m surprised it hasn’t rusted or been destroyed yet.

The bloody place is disgusting.

I walk through wondering what the hell I’m going to do for the day. It’s not like I have any assignments or projects to do because I finished all those ages ago.

I was a straight A student through all of high school, and now I’m one of the best students in my study classes.

I hate people knowing how I do in school though, it makes me feel like such a nerd, and it’s plain embarrassing.

I don’t even know why on Earth my parents sent me here anyway. It’s the f*king biggest contiguous university campus in America and I’ve been here for 2 years and I still don’t know my way around. Plus, I don’t know how my parents could afford to pay for the admission. It’s just some large amount of money going towards $hitty textbooks.

I walk past the library and see my group of backstabbing bitch friends.

“Hey Scarlet!” someone suddenly called.

It was Jake Johnson. He has been trying to get in my pants since day one, and I seriously can’t stand him.

He’s a typical jock. Captain of the basketball team that sleeps with absolute sluts then leaves them the next morning. But I guess I can’t criticize him considering Riley wasn’t far off being like him.

Except Riley is very caring, Jake is a total jerk and won’t stop bugging me.

“What do you want now Jake?” I hissed wanting to knee him in the balls before he touched me.
