Chapter 3
Riley’s POV
I woke up to the light flashing through Scarlet’s bedroom window. I looked over at the clock and it had just hit 6.
I better leave so I can quickly fit in some time for the gym, and then get ready for college.
I look down at Scarlet and she was still snuggled up close to me fast asleep with her head on my chest, and her legs tangled in mine. I just wanted to stay here lying with her all day.
I loved her so much and just didn’t know how to tell her.
Last night when she told me I was a player, I couldn’t help but feel heart- break all through my body. It was like I cheated on her and broke her heart even though we’re not dating.
I’d already found the right girl, yet I still didn’t have the balls to tell her.
Why do I have to sleep with so many girls in the first place? I guess $ex just makes me feel manly and strong… This is so stupid because I don’t want my best friend thinking I’m some assh0le that uses girls. I hate to admit it, but I kinda am.
I slowly get out of the bed grabbing my clothes trying not to wake her up.
I chuck on my shirt and jeans as quietly as possible and look around her room for some paper and a pen.
I quickly write something down so when she wakes up she’ll know where I am.
Scar,
Sorry for leaving, but I have to go get ready for college.
I hope you had a good sleep, because I surely did.
I’ll miss you heaps, see you this afternoon, can’t wait!
Riley, x
I put the piece of paper on her bedside table and sit the pen on top.
I grab my hoodie and quietly walk downstairs trying not to wake anyone.
I tip toe towards the door when I hear someone whisper my name.
“Riley” Ella, Scarlet’s Mom whisper called.
She walks up to me and smiles.
“What are you doing up so early, sweetheart?” she asked.
Ella was such a great Mom, and I was so grateful to have her in my life. I’m so thankful that Josh and her had such an amazing daughter.
“Ella this ain’t early for me” I admitted laughing.
Which was true. I get up every morning at 4 o’clock to go to the gym.
She laughs. “Of course it isn’t, boys these days, getting up early to work their muscles to perfection trying to impress the ladies”
I laughed at her little joke. She was right though. Most boys do get fit and muscular to get the chicks.
“I was gonna let Scarlet get ready, and I thought I’d have a little bit of time at the gym” I told her.
She smiled at me in awe pulling me into a hug. “You’re so sweet Riley, always impressing my daughter. Anyway, I should probably let you head down to the gym sweetheart”.
I can definitely see where Scarlet got her looks from. Ella is beyond beautiful. If any guys were looking for a ‘cougar’ relationship, then they’d know where to head. But Ella was too young to be a proper cougar anyway; because I’m pretty sure they started at 40. She was doing really well for 38, she has one lucky husband.
