Love is Love

I love him and he loves me,
We always anticipate the day we'll be free.
Excitement arrives every time we're alone,
But when we have company we speak in monotone.

People assume but we brush it off,
They can't see what we're made of.
We sneak up the stairs into a safe haven,
Silent and swift, like two young Ravens.

Torn in two,
I shouldn't say this but I can't stop thinking about you.
When we're apart I can be myself,
But when we come together I hide the butterflies on the highest shelf.

I want the best for you and I,
Although I fear they can see how hard we try.

Intertwine warm hands in the dark,
But when in public look away, but not too sharp.
Stand up straight and never bend,
For if you bend, your sanity will come to an end.
Malignant spirits chase us in a twisted maze,
But when we escape I promise I will never break our gaze.

We'll give it up and tape our backs straight,
But the tape keeps snapping and showing us our fate.
Love is love, that's what they say...
If I love you and you love me, I'll never leave you so here we'll stay.

I'll keep you safe and shield your heart,
I'll take the blame to keep us from coming apart.

Ever since we opened the doors and into the light, people see us differently, but not with fright.
Great love surrounds us quite often,
but with every piece of hatred, I will try to stop it.

It's all for you, everything I do.
I'll give you my whole heart, if you need me to.
Whatever it takes, I'll make you smile and I'll continue to try,
Even if on the outside I'll look away and lie.
