The Last Ones

Chapter 4

A/N this is going to blow yalls mind. Over 400 reads, and my mind is blown. 

He shoots a smirk at me and then looks back up at the sky. His eyes looked distant and for a moment i wanted to reach out and see if he were real but then his eyes snapped to a cold loneliness. I gasp as he reaches out for me and then falls to his knees. He grips my arm with one hand and his head with the other. Normally im not easily frightened, but i let out a shriek when Mannix started to scream like he was dying. Every hair stood on end and as i looked over to Kameko i saw both werewolves covering their ears. But something ,other then Mannix screaming like a banshee, was wrong. Wheres Thanos? I did a complete 360 and even with my superior cat vision, i didnt see hide nor hair of thanos. "Thanos!" I call out but no way would he be able to hear me over Mannix's violent screaming. I kneel down beside him and pry his hand off his head. BY the time he stops screaming, its nightfall. "Mannix." I whisper to him, trying to calm him. His handsome face is streaked with tears and it breaks my heart. I push his black hair out of his face as i hug him. "Aleris, there is a terrible danger." Mannix mutters and he stands up and pulls me into his embrace. "People very close to you will try to kill you." First i dont understand what he is saying but i never have time to because suddenly Kameko yells out," Bears! Werebears, atleast three!" Werebears? Do they mean the super strong, super huge shape shifting bear? I hope not, they can kill me in less then two seconds. I rush to stand beside Kameko as a gigantic brown bear, atleast 9 feet tall with all four feet on the ground, clamors out of the surrounding forest. I shift into werecat form after i yell out to my friends," Run!" They shift as well, including mannix into a stunning black lion. I almost couldnt move my paws. But then the bear took a clawed swipe at me and i snapped out of my trance. I sprint after my friends as we weave through the trees. Then the forest suddenly stops parralel to a highway. A BIG highway. And what goes on highways? Big semi trucks. How do i know this? Well after the darkness of the forest, the sudden sunlight blinded my sensitive eyes and a semi truck clipped my tail. Luckily we sprint faster and i get back in front of my group. We cross the highway and run into the forest on the other side. But not before Kado gets slammed into by a truck. We slam our paws into the ground at the bloodcurdiling wine of pain that escapes his canine muzzle. I rapidly spin back around and rush to his side. The truck was fipped and totaled. Kado looked to have a broken left foreleg and a few broken ribs but he pushed himself back up and limped on. I stayed at his side as the rest of the pack stood at the opening of the forest. "Go now, kameko!" I roar at her. Sadness fills her blue eyes and i almost wish that the truck had hit me. Almost. But she listens and her and Mannix rush into the forest, leaving me and the stumbling Kado behind. He limps as fast as his injured body will allow and i trot to keep up. I wish we hadnt gotten separated. But now the group was split up. And i was scared and stuck with an injured wolf. Yay. what a great way to begin the night. I follow the stars as we trot after our companions. The beautiful moon called for me to sleep, but i wouldnt. Not now. With tiredness chasing after me, i had to think to stay awake as we stumbled along. Kado whined, and i thought about what Mannix had said. People very close to you will try to kill you. But who?
