26.) Heard It All Before

I woke up the next day with a raging headache. I sat up in my bed seeing two pills, and a cup of water on the night stand. I didn't care how they got here or where they came from I tossed both into my mouth. I downed the water to swallow the pills. After I did that I placed my back onto the wall. I got up from the bed to go look at the damage in the bathroom. I opened my door, and made my way down the hall.

I walked into the bathroom turning on the light. I had my eyes closed because I wanted to ease into it. I stepped forward towards the sink placing my hands out to make sure I didn't stub my toe. I took in a deep exhale, and released it slowly before opening my eyes. Sometimes I hated having lighter skin. I had a big darkish blue hue around my eye, and my top and bottom lip were swollen. It looks like I sucked dick, and had an allergic reaction.

I walked out of the bathroom back to my room. I cannot believe things went that far yesterday. I just got so fed up with being the punching bag that I figured why not punch back. I've never been a fighter. I'm too cute to fight, and I feel that fighting is an ugly bitch's sport. The outcome, which I knew, resulted in me ending up on my ass. My stomach was bruised as well. I hate that he embarrassed me in public like this.

I couldn't help, but feel accomplished by what I did do. If Jayln hadn't been here I would've been in someone's morgue. I got some adequate hits in on him and that felt good. I walked back into room to get my toothpaste and soap. I went back to the bathroom to do the typical morning hygiene. I looked in the mirror seeing Jayln walking past the bathroom to go downstairs.

Once I finished up in the bathroom I wiped the leftover water from my face. I went back into my room tossing the towel onto the chair. I sat down onto my bed as images of yesterday just kept replaying in my head. I should've heeded earlier when he would tell me things. Mizhano has told me several times of how he views me. He honestly thinks I'm his property, and I allow it. I always replay what he's told me several times before.

" I just need you to know that you're mines. If you get with somebody else I'm gonna always be in the picture. "

His words always come to be true. Months after graduation, and he's still a nightmare that I can't wake up from. I know he keeps his gun tucked away, but my biggest fear is him getting fed up and using it on La'rey. I always read stories online where women are degraded by men, and when they want to leave it's impossible. Death is the only way out for a lot of people. You can tell someone, but they can only do some much if you're not willing to leave yourself.

" Roman! " I hear Jayln call my name. " Come downstairs please. "

I get up from the bed, and march down the stairs. When I reach the bottom of the stairs Jayln is standing there talking to some cute guy. He was holding flowers in his hand. I looked curiously as I stood looking at the flowers. Jayln looked back at me stepping to the side.

" Roman Reeves? " He asked, looking at a card he was holding.

" Yes. That's me. " I say, stepping forward. I watched as he pushed the flower forwards in my direction. I took them from his hands as he handed me a clipboard.
