Chapter One.

Loki was led, or to be more accurate, pushed down a long hall way, escorted by two rows of four heavily armed agents. They were taking him to what was supposed to be Bruce Banner's cell, if anything unusual happened - but seeing as it was the only thing on the ship that could hold Loki, it looked like he had the privilege of testing it out first. He looked into rooms as he went passed a countless number of doors, smiling wickedly at anyone who made eye contact with him.

It made him sadistically happy when the other agents would jump or stare at him in horror when their eyes met. The agents guarding him turned right, starting to lead Loki down a side hall, but Loki could see that this part was different. It smelt like a healing room; an antiseptic hue was rife in the air and the rooms were filled with people attached to machines that seemed to be keeping them alive.

Room after room showed the same thing, the physical appearance of these poor individuals was the only thing changing. They walked in silence, 'til they reached the end of the hall. The sign above the door read First-Aid, and the door, unlike the others - which were closed and clearly locked, was open, enabling someone, a female, to walk out.

Loki would have stopped in his tracks on setting eyes on the girl, but this hall was smaller and the agents with him were shoulder-to-shoulder with him, keeping a close eye on his reaction.

She was simply stunning with her shoulder length, charcoal-coloured black hair and soft pink lips. She was skinny, but he could tell she worked out. She looked like she'd be shorter than him, but not by much. He found that he was irresistibly drawn to her eyes, even from where he was standing he could see the ambivalence in their glow, the sapphire flame of her irises holding a deep, dark secret.

From the nature of her clothing, Loki established that she was an agent. She appeared to be walking straight at them, but none of the others looked as though they were going to move. He waited for them all to crash into each other, when to his surprise, the woman's body turned into smoke. Her body passed around them, curls and tendrils of mist swirling around them,  like they were passing through a deep fog. The hall had clearly dropped in temperature where she had seemingly evaporated into the air.

Loki turned to look over his shoulder, just in time to see her body solidify. She looked back at him and gave him a small, but genuine smile, before turning the corner and walking quickly down the hall they had just come from.

"Who was that?" Loki asked aloud.

When none of the agents answered Loki decided to find out for himself. Loki's fastest way of knowing something was to read someone's mind, and this time was no different. Instead of reading them all one by one, Loki decided to open his mind and allowed all thoughts to enter his mind at once, resulting in them all to be read at once.

~ I hate it when Alice does that. ~

~ They clearly don't call her The Ghost for nothing. ~

~ That poor girl, she didn't deserve what happened to her.~

Loki also scanned their minds for memories of her but could find none. None of these men seemed to have any personal knowledge of her, but ultimately felt sympathy for her. At least now he had something to go on, in his quest to find out more about the mysterious smoke girl.

Meanwhile in the debriefing room.

"Ok Patches, where is she? You said we'd have a new team mate but I'm not seeing anyone." Stark asked Nick Fury, his expression hard and stony.
