Fury and Thor were walking down the hall discussing Thor's last mission, as they rounded a corner. Down the hall they could see Stark walking purposefully towards them. Fury had half a mind to turn around but wouldn't dare give him the satisfaction.

Thor laughed at seeing the Fury Man get angry when he saw Iron Man. Had they been in Asgard, they would have started fighting brutally as soon as their paths intertwined, but alas, they were on Earth. It occurred to Thor that perhaps that was a good thing.

"Well, if it isn't my favorite secret keeper. So look, something needs to happen around here soon or I might just have to bring our mean green friend out to play." Stark was kidding of course, but he wanted to see the veins in Fury's neck stick out, making him live up to the full potential of his name.

"You should not jest like that, Banner is a good man." Thor said, pointing meaningfully at Stark.

While the two of them bickered Fury got a call in his ear-piece -

"Director Fury, there has been a power outage in Sector Seven. We've lost all visual and audio in the cell room."

This was alarming news. "Shut up, both of you and come with me! Alice could be in extreme danger!", Fury almost yelled. He took off running, pulling out his gun, rather dramatically, from his côte.

Thor ran after him and to their upmost surprise, so did Stark. When people wandering in the corridors saw the three running towards them, they got out of the way as quickly as they could. They were extremely powerful men, after all. They ran as fast as they could; pessimistically fearing the worst.

They finally reached the hall to Loki's cell and saw the soft red glow of the emergency lights. Once they reached the door, Fury tapped frantically on the ID pad and then cursed rather loudly when nothing happened. Looking in the room, via a small glass slit in the door, he could see nothing.

"We need this door opened now!" Fury shouted, turning his head around surprisingly quickly.

Now all three men were pulling on the door, at Fury's command, trying to get it to open, but having little luck. It took some time, but with their effort and determination, the door slowly opened, the gap wide enough for all of them to get through.

The lights flickered for a bit and then came on again. They saw Loki sitting on the bed and Alice in her steam form standing near the door looking straight at them.

"Sir, power is back up and audio has been returned. All systems are a go." This came from the ear-piece, once again. Fury was visibly relieved about that, but Thor was more reluctant to let it go.

"Alice, what happened here?" He asked, taking a step towards her, his expression one of concern and mild confusion.

Loki placed the book he was holding down and stood up. All eyes were on him now; all three men sharply turning, as soon as they detected movement.

"Well, the lights started to flicker, so I told Loki to stay in bed. I turned into steam and stood by the door. Then you guys showed up and the lights came back on."

Well, at least it wasn't all a lie, Alice thought to herself, as she explained hurriedly.

"Did Loki stay in bed the whole time?" Fury asked.

"Yes, he did." Alice confirmed with a rigid nod.

He must have believed her because he put his gun away and relaxed his body. Stark, who had already gotten bored with all of this turned around and left without saying a word. Thor looked over at Loki and smiled neutrally. Fury, on the other hand, glared fiercely at Loki.

~ Don't worry love, they believe you. Fury just thinks I shouldn't look so happy. ~ Loki spoke softly inside Alice's head.

She had to fight to keep the smile off her face when he called her love. But, fortunately she was somehow able to do it.

Thor and Fury left the room leaving them alone, once again. Alice turned back to her normal form; walked over to the table near Loki and grabbed a book.

Loki relaxed back into his bed and picked his book back up, looking at Alice from the corner of his eye."Would you ever turn over a new leaf?" Her question echoed in his head repeatedly, as he thought nostalgically about their kiss.

Alice didn't like lying to Fury, but if she had told him the truth she'd never be able to see Loki again. She sighed heavily, wondering what she was going to do? One thing was definitely crystal clear; Loki was now a part of her life, and a big part at that. She couldn't - no, wouldn't - bear to lose him.

~ Whats wrong Alice? Don't worry, I'll be able to hear you in my mind, just think. ~ Loki was talking to her in her mind again, his tone mirroring the worry in her heart.

~ I don't like lying to him like that, Fury has done so much for me. But I don't want him to remove me as your guard. ~ Loki heard the edge to her voice and he suddenly felt a strong urge to hold her tight against his chest and tell her everything was going to be ok. But he couldn't, at least not now.

~ I don't want you to go either. ~ He voiced his opinion simply and Alice looked up and saw was scared to see pure fear in his eyes.

Alice opened her mouth to comfort him, but their conversation was brought to a standstill, when the door was opened abruptly and Captain America walked in. "Alice, sorry to bother you like this, but Fury asked me to come and get you. He's waiting for you by your room."

"Thanks, I'll be back as soon as I can." The last bit of that sentence was covertly directed to Loki. Alice turned into smoke and used the vents to leave the cell - after her almost falling earlier she didn't want to use the door again for a long time. With a formal nod at the Captain and a whisper of smoke, she was gone.

Loki, who had been smiling while she was in the room was now glaring menacingly at the Captain.

"So, why don't you tell me who you really are?" Loki said, keeping his expression impassive, as he turned to face the imposter.
