"Dude, you heard about the party next week?" Sam chewed away at his food and from what I could see it was some sort of meat but working it out was a bonus task.
"The Halloween one?" I asked, pulling my eyes away from the mysterious meat, it smelled good but I couldn't work out what it was. "Yeah, Jade Milaway's. You gonna go?" Sam replied, mouth full while doing so. Yeah didn't smell so nice anymore when it was chewed into one big lump.
"Hey guys" Joss hurried over. I said hi then Sam did along with a glance to him.
"What you talking about?" He continued, smiling slightly. His hair was now pulled back into a lousy bun and his uniform was all stuck in and whatnot.
I looked down at my own shirt which was just now hanging out from my trousers and the sleeves part was rolled up, not to mention my black jumper which now hung around my bag. "Jade Milaway's Halloween party next Friday. Just asking Don if he's going" Sam grinned, pass over the meat filled sandwich to Joss. Who eyed it suspiciously. He had been following us since COPE day and I've more than gotten use to his annoyingness. Even grown to like his annoyance like a blister on the back of my heel, rubbing against the leather of my school shoes. You know, that lovely feeling.
"Donnie, are you gonna go?" Joss said taking a bite from the sandwich, wow he was braver than me then.
"Probably. Why?"
"It's fancy dress, you know"
"Perfect" I smiled sarcastically, rolling my eyes. Fancy dress meant the guys would just cover themselves in fake blood and look gruesome as possible and the girls would dress up as slutty as possible and get away with it because it was part of the 'Halloween spirit' so they said, anyway.
"I heard at Jade's last party it was proper wild. She had to buy a new swimming pool" Joss grinned this time and his eyes were just pure excitement. Yeah, this was going to be real fun and half the rumors that went round this school were far from true. I mean Jade was rich but I don't think herself would be able to buy a new swimming pool... could you even just buy a new swimming pool?
"What you gonna go as, Sam?" Joss yelped still excited it seemed, this boy ran on energy drinks, I swear to the gods and it only caused to me rub my temples, telling myself it was okay, I was okay.
"Mate I'm gonna go as Spider-Man!!" He yelled madly. Yeah, I wasn't okay.
"I'm heading to Spanish, see you later" I broke in to Sam's speech of costume design. They both nodded, totally unaware of what I actually just said.

.

The rest of the day went on uneventfully and Sam had changed his mind and had now decided he was going to be a flesh-eating zombie for Jade's Halloween party. Told ya! And I could not be bothered to explain how Zombies ate brains not flesh because it was just too damn hard. That and the part where they weren't actually real.
Not that he thought that; he even told me the once that he was going to go to Texas to see them one day. Unless he believed nuns were zombies then I think he might have a hard time finding any.
"What's the matter, you seem deep in thought" Ashby broke my thinking with a soft voice.
"No, I'm good" I told simply as she probably didn't want to know about Sam's zombie-not-zombie but then also not Spider-Man outfit for Halloween.
"Jade told me about the party she's having next Friday. Are you going?" She spoke after a moment of pulling up her socks then her bag strap then hurried to catch up with me again. But fuck not her too? I had only just got the stupid party out of my head.
"Yeah, most likely. Don't ask or tell Jaynie though because she'll say no" I explained, I had asked her once and we ended up having the biggest meltdown because she said no so from that point on I just didn't tell her or I'd say I'm staying at a mates house because I knew I'd be too drunk to cover up. Jaynie was a hawk when it came to things that shouldn't be happening. "Ah, thanks for the advice but I'm not sure if I'm going" She admitted. My chest started to sting.
"Why won't you go?"
"Well Robert might want me to go trick or treating with Jaynie and Lily and Ryan"
"You deserve a life too" I reminded her in a odd voice, she rolled her eyes and smiled, that beautiful smile.
"Even if Robert didn't need me. I'm still not sure if I would go"
"But why?"
"Well. I'd feel like an intruder. I mean she hasn't properly invited me and plus if Charlotte's going to be there then I don't want to start an argument" She explained, scuffing the front of one of her creepers on purpose. "Jade told you. That's the invite, plus Jade's cool with pretty much anything, I think it's because she's high most of the time and Charlotte will be too interested in getting other people's attention to start anything" I shrugged it off. Jade would probably love an argument to kick off. Any chance to whip out her wicked karate skills because she too hated Charlotte, maybe even more than I did.
"Your attention, you mean"
"What?"
"She'll be too busy trying to get your attention" She repeated, unsure if I was safe grounds to do so.
"Nah. She'll find someone who will give her attention" I tried to convince her.
"If you say so"
"I also say you should come to the party" I hinted, giving my best cheeky grin. She rolled her eyes again, right so I could see. Ugh, I wanted to kiss her, she should let me do just right here and now.
"We'll see. Robert may need me" She smiled. Robert would say he needed her even if he didn't. He would do anything to keep her being like his little servant and she would do anything to stay by him. So win win for everyone. Great.
"Plus you'd have to dress up so maybe Charlotte wouldn't recognize you if were dressed as a sea hag or something. Might think it's an improvement" I laughed but thinking about nothing could improve her looks in any way, it was inhuman to make her more gorgeous.
She gaped her mouth up and pushed me in the ribs playfully before laughing.
"You big meanie. I wouldn't go as a sea hag!" She giggled still pushing me.
"Hm, would you go as a princess then?" I spoke pulling her forward by her forearms, to look at her eyes they looked browner today.
"Ha, and copy Charlotte, no thanks. Anyway, I was thinking more along the lines of Dracula's wife" She spoke with the different expression then pulled out my grip so she could walk around like vampire.
"Gives me an excuse to bite people too" She joked, flashing a toothy smiley, using her two pointing fingers as fangs. Her eyes wide and the wind pulling her hair back made her look ridiculous but cute as she stood in front of me blocking my path, yelling about how she was going to drink my blood by biting my neck.
Yeah, that was more my type of girl.
