Chara's POV

Chara teleported into the living room as Asriel finished up the cookies Toriel had taught me to make. He smiled cheerfully and darted into the living room, rainbow bandana reflecting the light shining in from the windows.

"Sup Rei," Chara said, flopping onto the couch.

"Don't call me that. Anyway, I wanted to show you these cookies. I'm sure I, the great god of Hyperdeath Asriel, have finally perfected the recipe!" Asriel chirped. Chara laughed a little, closing her eyes.

"Maybe later. Now, I'm just gonna get some shut eye. I 'kid' you not, I've had a long day. You've 'goat' to believe me." Chara winked. Asriel's smile close to immediately transformed into an angry scowl, though it didn't look at all frightening.

"Chara!" Asriel shouted, stomping his foot. "Stop with these hideous puns! Someone as great as me shouldn't have to deal with this!" Chara smirked just to irk the angry goat child. Asriel stomped away to the kitchen, and Chara's smile faded away as she sighed. This is the longest he's been alive... and he doesn't even know.

"I believe in you! If the great god Asriel believes, then it surely must be true!"

The sickening sound of a knife through flesh.

"O- Oh... I... I still believe in you.... Y- You... c- can be b- better... Promise."

Then his dust floated away with the wind, a rainbow bandana lightly covered in dust all that was left.

Chara teleported into her room. She repressed the memories again, as per usual, and she fell onto her back on her bed. Chara closed her eyes and fell asleep, nightmares visiting her like every time she closed her eyes. After only fifteen minutes she opened them again and gave up. She never could get a good amount of sleep, despite Asriel shouting at her about sleeping all the time and being lazy. Chara sat up, staring at the ground. She sighed and teleported away to Hotland and easily found Frisk.

She doubted she'd ever forgive him. She doubted that he'd ever really change.

But as he smiled and spared each and every monster, making friends, some of that doubt slowly melted and trickled away.
