"I'm sorry... She is in an induced coma, it was the only safe option for her. Her heart rate was becoming far too fast and we were worried about the risk of a heart attack or worse, as you probably know it is possible to die of what is commonly referred to as a broken heart. We couldn't take that risk when her son was born so prematurely."
"Well how is the kid?"
"He's stable but we're not sure if he will make it. She needs to be able to calm down enough to breastfeed. Stress isn't good for that."
"What is happening to her daughter?"

"She is a miracle baby."
"This could save her life, here's hoping."
"When will she be able to wake up?"
"Very soon, her body seems to be burning rapidly through the drugs. We may need to take a few tests to see why that is."
"No need, she will be fine from now on."
"Sir, you can't be sure of that."
"Trust me, I am dead sure."
"Very well."

"She should be waking up any moment now."
"Her heart rate! It's increasing!"
"Thats normal, she should be awake soon and then we can begin the recovery process."
"No, she will need to come home as soon as possible."
"Sir that's not a good idea, nor is it an option."
"Listen to me, she has to come home. There is no other option."
"Sir-"
"She's waking."

My eyes slowly adjust to the bright lights surrounding me, a searing pain in my lower stomach and head.
"Hazel?" I don't remember a thing other than being shot and having to come to the hospital.
"Yes, yes kiddo Hazel is here. She will be very hungry." I hear Tree whisper as I feel myself rise into a sitting position. Looking around I see two cribs at the end of my bed, two babies sleeping peacefully inside them, one blue hat and one pink.
"They are so tiny." I whisper, tears of joy falling silently. Tree picks the girl, Hazel up, his large rough hands suddenly becoming so gentle and careful. Coming over to my side I cradle the fragile bundle in my arms.
"I will call for a midwife to help teach you how to properly breastfeed and give you some helpful information since they are more susceptible to illness." Nodding I can't drag my eyes away from the adorable, precious, innocent child. I thought she died, was that just a hallucination? Am I going even more crazy?
"What are you going to call your baby boy, kiddo?" Looking up I see him cradling the boy, reaching out my free arm he passes the second bundle, adjusting the two infants so they were both cradled in my arms. Yawning Hazel reaches up a tiny arm, clasping my thumb in her tiny fist.
"Ace."
"Ace?"
"Yes, Ace and Hazel."
