Chapter 18-Dem Planes Doe

"Flight 23 to Anaheim now boarding." The voice on the intercom buzzed.

"Promise you'll be careful!" My mom said, practically shaking me.

"I promise, I'll be okay." I reassure her, and I hug her tight one last time. "Bye mom I'll see you in a week!"

"Bye. I love you. Don't lose your crutches!!!" She said as I hobbled to the plain.

A man helped me up the stairs when he saw I had a brace on my knee.

"Thank you." I said smiling.

"Of course." He replied and walked away. What a nice man.

I quickly found my seat luckily right next to Lea. Trevor and Sam were two rows behind us.

Trevor winked as I approached my seat. I returned the wink, but ended up awkwardly squinting, which made me sneeze.

I saw him and Sam go into a fit of laughter. I just chuckled and shook my head.

I sat by Lea and greeted me with a cotton candy frappe.

"Oh my god." I said, taking a sip immediaty.

"I found a Starbucks over by the luggage claim." She said. "I bought like twelve cake pops."

"This is gonna be the best flight ever!" I said as I grabbed a turtle mocha cake pop from the little paper bag.

Halfway through my frappe/ a half hour later.

"Anna?" Lea's voice cut into my laughter. We had been sketching dinosaurs. It was a long story.

"Yeah?" I replied. She sounded serious. I put my sketchbook into my bag. And turned to her.

"Thank you." She said quietly.

"For what?"

"You were just always there for me. Even when I got all boy crazy and fucked everything up. You gave up your safety just to help me. There's not enough cake pops in the world to repay you for that." She said. I pulled her into a hug.

"I didn't wanna lose the best friend I've ever had." I said sincerely.
