26| Decisions

Maya

"Shehry beta! these things are delicate, lives depend on these decisions we have to take them sensibly and with the wish and will of our kids. Don't pressurize Hussain" Khizrah's father spoke to Shehry, his head was lowered and his face screaming EMBARRASSMENT. I hated the look on his face.

"Uncle am extremely surprised by this sudden reaction of my brother, we all know him he can be unpredictable but this time he has....

"Shehry" Uncle placed his hand over his shoulder. "Beta call Hussain and talk to him, but I will again remind you not to force him into anything, after all my daughter and her happiness is very precious to me. I don't want her to be piled unwanted over someone's shoulder"

"Or Hussain koi aakhri lerka to nai, lerkey marr gaye hen kia? Ek se ek mil sakta hea meri beti ko wo to bus hum bhi...

"Asfa!" Khizrah's mom started to bleed when Uncle stopped her in the middle. "Ye moqa nai in sab baton ka. Chup ho jao"

"Ap ho jaiye chup! Meri beti k to nam k sath laga diya na Hussain ne thukraye jane ka daagh!" Aunty stated, Shehry shook his head faintly as he looked down at the ground. I saw Amna slowly walked towards them. Pata nai Hussain kahan tha?!

This time even uncle sighed a little and remained quiet. "Mein bus maazrat ker sakta hoon Aunty, khud ko ap ka or Khizrah ka gunehgaar mehsoos ker raha hoon" Amna softly placed her hand on his shoulder as Shehry spoke lowly with extreme dejection. I stood in the lobby by the wall; I didn't have enough courage to face them.

"Huhn! Tum kia maafi mango ge Shehryar, Allah le ga hisaab Hussain se" My heartbeats sped up on her words. "Kisi massom k sath bura kerne ko Allah maaf nai kerta"

"Asfa bus karo. Humein chalna chaiye"

"Ker le ja ker us hindu se shadi, meri beti ki aah lage gi usey.....

Aunty spoke and my heart panicked, I couldn't take more and walked out towards them. "Aunty please! Don't say like this" everybody turned, facing me. I gulped down every eye had disapproval and anger for me. Shehry looked at me with disbelief as if he couldn't believe all that and wanted my approval to his disbelief but when I couldn't do that he felt extreme shock and distaste.

"Ghalti shaid meri hea. I shouldn't have come here in their lives. Ap ko jo kehna hea mujhy kahiye but please aesey bad'dua mat dejiye Hussain ko" I walked towards them as I spoke. Aunty sarcastically looked at me and then looked back at Shehry as she refused to look at me anymore.

"dua bad'dua ki batein tum jeson k moo se achi nai lagteen lerki! Pata nai kahan se uth ker aa gai ho, karo shadi, karo naslen tabah inki ub. Huhn! Chaliye ji!" Aunty snapped and then without even a word she turned and walked out. Tears started to roll down my eyes. I quickly wiped them off.

"Asfa ki baton ka bura mat man'na Shehry, wo maa hea. Dil dukha hea us ka" I heard uncle stating before he left us there. Shehry seemed disturbed, angry as he looked around in utmost restlessness as if he couldn't understand what to do now.

"Shehry..." Amna tried to near him when he stepped forward and kicked the chair placed in front of him with all his force. I covered my mouth with both my palms as I gasped in horror.

"Shehry stop!" Amna screamed along with the loud crashing sound of the chair as it smashed with the front wall. "Shehry please, calm down" Amna held his arm as he raked a hand through his hair.
